Emergency Call System Failure
Anyone get this message on their M2s. I've had it pop up now 3x in the last week. An internet search suggests it's pretty widespread & is a result of the telematics battery. I know, take it to the dealer. I'm just very limited on time (only available on Fridays & Saturdays) & the dealer I trust is 40 min one way from my home. If it's not urgent, I can leave it until I have more time.

Is this a thing with these cars, or is this example a one-off? Assuming these batteries would be replaced up until the 4year/50k warranty period is over, folks needing replacement after that would be making a business decision on even wanting that feature.

my quick google search resulted a a lot of threads about this failure in almost every model of BMW (x3, X5, 5-series, 3-series, etc.) going back several years. Yes it will be replaced under warranty until the warranty expires, but do I want to keep taking the car in for this, no. It appears the battery is about $70 & replacement requires you to get up under the headliner.
