Offered an early production 330i
demo with 4,XXX miles for invoice. Silver/Black, SP, and PP. Whatca guys think?
BTW, when I say early I mean early, March 2005. One of the demo cars sent to dealers at the end of April, first of May. |

I wouldn't buy it. Test driven miles are pretty hard miles for the car
Other people might have different opinions

I'd pass; people in the US seem to be getting away with as low as $750 over invoice! For $750 or even twice that I would get the post September (real MY2006) e90 with the latest updates and, more importantly, 0 miles. As some have mentioned, you can bet the test drivers have NOT been gentle, and have not broken the car in properly at all. Even if it was your salesman's demo.
Drive safe. |

I paid $250 over invoice so that is a very bad deal. If you calculate 20 cents per mile, you are actually paying $800x above invoice....In short Bad Deal!!!

DO NOT BUY THAT DEMO CAR.
E90 owners drive hard, and test-drivers drive even harder! When I went for my test drive, the CA told me to go over 5 speed bumps in a residential area at 90 km/hr to "test" the suspension. In short, you just don't know what that demo car has gone through.

335 is not an option for me. Honestly, the fact it is a very early production E90 bothers me more than it being my sales reps former demo. Being that he is a family friend, the demo fact is not an issue for me. |

Demos though are not titled, so therefore they are considered new vehicles and not used. |

Wait just a second, you had a brand new car coming from Germany and you decided not to take it because of the new engines coming out and now that you would even consider a demo (a first run production model no less) is crazy to me. And to answer your question NO do not buy that demo, I don't care what the deal is. First Run Production is a big no no

Youre all wrong. The best way to break in a car is to drive it as hard as possible. Demo cars have a reputation of beeing the fastest examples of the bread because of the harsh treatment they recieve right from the start.
Plus, beeing a demo and having been driven hard, whatever was not quite right about it has most likely allready been fixed by the dealership. You can´t have your demo rattling or not functioning, so it´probably one of the better working examples as well. Still I would not buy the car because for a little more you can get a brand new one and mistreat it from mile one yourself. But if the price is right, I´d go get a seriously abused example right away

Just a consideration...the car is sitting in the showroom and was offered at invoice. Obvisously...they would like to move it. |

What would concern me is the lack of MP3 and other features they are not retrofitting into early cars. Also does it have the options you wanted, and is it the right colour? These considerations would all affect my percieved value of the vehicle.

You know, my last car was an E46 325ti (fully loaded with every option on the list) - it was a dealer demo with 10000km's (so thats like 4500mi) .
Granted, it was a white car with grey leather - and I wanted a black car. I decided to buy the car - and really I had to problems with it. The car was powerfull, there wasn't a rattle or shake or anything in sight - the car was virtually perfect. I did a very thorough inspection of it though - and test drove it a bit to check it was "as new" but in the end I was really happy with the car. You need to weigh up what MP3 means to you, the time/cost/benefit of it - and then check the car for dings, scratches and any imperfections that will irritate you - and then make a decision. If it were me, and the car was in pretty good shape...I'd take it. At anyrate, I bet the QC in march was very high...trying to perfect things... (It was in may, june and july when they thought they had it perfect some things slipped through) |

every time i drive a demo, i have no mercy for the car. i'm pretty sure other people are even worse. and while i drive it, i feel sorry for the person who ends up getting the car at the end and has no idea what people did to it...

I think you should do it just so you have more to post about on here. It'll give you lots to complain about and whine about and second guess yourself and have people roll their eyes at you.
In short, what the hell are you thinking? You have stated you don't need the car. You have stated it isn't a money issue, it is a 'the new models may have features I want more' then you're going to get a car that has LESS features than you were already disatisfied with? C'mon now. Be a LITTLE internally consistent. You're waffling more than the Republicans accused Clinton of doing.
