Reputable shop for painting OEM hood in NoVA

I'm considering getting an OEM hood and looking to find a shop that would be willing to strip/prep/paint a used OEM hood that I am considering purchasing. It's painted Sparkling Graphite but, I need it to be Space Grey Metallic. Anyone have any recommendations in the Sterling/Herndon/Reston area? Got a quote for like $600 which would include blending with the current paint. To me, that sounds outrageous!

Thanks for your help.

Cheers - Ryan

Ryan,

Call D&V and ask to talk to Ron or Kevin. Tell him you are a friend of mine and to hook you up.

While D&V is a competent and talented shop, I'm of the opinion their heads have gotten a bit big over there. Mine would too if I did as much European and work for Ferrari of Washington as they do. This is well documented with their consistently high prices relative to the market.

I've been in the game for over 15 years and the body shop industry has changed a great deal in this area. My recommendation would be to research reviews online as well as get three bids for the work and go with who you are most comfortable with.

I don't disagree with this. Even though I'm a huge fan of D&V, their prices are always hundreds higher than the next best shop. And last time I was there, their work was less than 100% perfect the first 2 times repainting my bumper. When I asked Kevin to redo the work, he was less than enthused since it would have been the 3rd time for this particular repair. He told me he would be losing money on my job. Well, I'm paying hundreds higher than the next best shop, I expected 100% perfection. Needless to say, I made him redo it. This is coming from someone who's been a customer for 10+ years and Kevin knows me pretty well by now.

While I have also had a bit of trouble with D&V before, what stands out to me is how they stand by their work. Ron has always gotten my repair to 100% if not 110% when all said and done.
