Oil leak?
I noticed this when I was inspecting my car when I had limp mode and changed the solenoids. Now the car is running like a beauty. Wtf is this now?

Yeah can't really tell what oil leak your talking about, but generally in that part of the engine I would say valve cover gasket or it could just be some oil spilt after your last oil change

I don't see an oil leak in the pics but the engine is tilted to the left so it makes sense if the valve cover was leaking it will find its way to the passanger/exhaust side of the engine.

I would start by checking:
1. if the oil cap is leaking 2. if the valve cover gasket is leaking 3. the valve cover integrity If #1 is the cause this can be resolved by replacing the mickey mouse BMW PCV valve with the one sold by these guys: www.rbturbo.com. A very inexpensive and simple fix that will stop leaking turbocharged pressure into the crankcase. Here is the discussion. Worked like a charm for me, took me ~ 25 min to do the swap. My problem was rather cosmetic, I couldn't stand the cap sprayed with oil all around . Hope this helps. Last edited by RMG; 07-25-2014 at 12:25 PM.. |
