Call me anal, but...

Call me anal, but I can never leave on a road trip in a dirty car. No matter the expected weather conditions, I must always pull out of the driveway in a clean car. So in that spirit, I was up extra early this morning washing away in anticipation of a long weekend road trip! Oh, and Techron fuel system cleaner is a must too!

I feel you on that! I even bring my wash buckets and all my microfiber supplies to wash as I go, especially if it's a long trip.

He technically did ask for us to call him anal.

OP, Techron is an awesome decision especially since you can run through the whole tank pretty quickly on a road trip.

We took my fiances e92 on a 650 mile trip to Disney World in March and we made sure to wash it before the trip and the first place I went when we got there was a DIY car wash to hose off all the road grime and bugs.

Had my car fully detailed the day before we left for our road trip to CT.

Are we supposed to use fuel system cleaner in these cars? My car always goes from black to gray on road trips, looks terrible.

You're anal, although I'll give you one thing: I hate dirty windows, especially on a long trip, and especially if they're unevenly dirty (a thin layer of dust from a couple weeks of LA air is annoying, but when it blotches up from rain or splatter or etc etc, it's distracting)

I usually deal with that with a quick gas station stop + squeegee, but I definitely love driving a clean car.

This. Front windshield is a must but the rest is overkill for a long road trip. Definitely hard to keep a black car clean in LA!

Definitely not anal, same here, I hate having a dirty car period, but it has to be spotless before I go on a trip or even out to dinner sometimes. i always take an extra day off after a long trip to take the day and clean my car. I'm starting to think I have ocd sometimes.

I am not so-anal on the cleaning-4-departure as I tend to KEEP my car pretty clean. However, within hours of my arrival at the destination, I absolutely MUST have the car detailed (personally or professionally... whatever the situation permits)... I rolled into New Orleans late last week and spotted a HAND WASH place on the way to the Hotel. Within 2 hours, I was sitting in-line and they did an excellent job("Al & Al's One stop"). I avoid the machine washers like the plague!!

Seems perfectly normal to me. If I don't wash my car weekly I feel dirty.

Haha, man. In the muggy midwest my car looks like a perpetrator of attempted bug genocide by the time I reach my destination unless I'm only driving in a city. One time it even sounded like I was driving in the rain because so many bugs were hitting my car! No keeping the car clean for me!

I don't blame you for wanting to keep your car clean though. Good for you guys!
