I was wondering how can I activate the auto tilting feature on my 08 238.
Thanks. |

Its automatic in R gear as long as you have the side view mirror adjust toggle to the drivers side.

I may be wrong, but if you have iDrive, I think it can be turned off.

That I know of, the auto tilt mirror feature was only included if you opted for the premium package (at least in the US).

In US if you have premium package on pre-LCI models you get, auto tilt mirrors amungst other things such as folding mirrors, heated seats, auto tinting mirrors and some other stuff that I can't remember. However, I don't know how LCI models work. |

All Pre-LCi have the auto tilt feature even if it is just a base model.; I believe the LCI also has it. Premium package adds the auto folding option and auto dimming mirrors. Just have to make sure that the mirror switch is not set to passenger (right) mirror if you want the auto tilt option to work.

Should be the same for Pre and post LCI cars. As per wikipedia:
Premium package (USD$2.650) – Interior mirror with compass, BMW assist with Bluetooth, lumbar support, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, universal garage door opener Heated seats was not part of the premium pack. It was part of the cold weather pack and also available as a stand alone option. |

Double check first to make sure you can move the mirror up down and sideways to make sure motor is working, then slide mirror selector to the left. Only passenger side tilts slightly in reverse.

This is random... But are the euro spec cars the opposite? Sit on the right, and left side mirror tilts? ... Wonder if you could fit it on a US car to have double tilt mirrors?

Mine is set to the Left (US) and it still doesn't tilt. I hope the dealership can answer this question.

Not sure if it's the same in these cars, but on my X5, if the selector switch to adjust the mirror is set to the right side, then it'll lock the mirror from tilting down in reverse. If the selector is pushed to the left side, it'll auto tilt when put in reverse.

Auto-tilt is part of the auto-folding feature. If you have a second button next to your right/left adjust switch, you have auto-folding and thus auto-tilting. Make sure your adjust switch is set to the driver's side.
If you do not have this button, you do not have either of these features. My car is a base model LCI and does not have these features.
