Macht Schnell Fitment Problems
Not to long ago I realized that it was time for a new air filter, I wanted to try an aftermarket filter so I decided to order a Macht Schnell drop in filter from EAS which was advertised to be a "Direct replacement for your original equipment filter panel." I received the filter and as I went to install it I realized that I could not get the top to close. So I then compared my OEM filter to the Macht Schell and saw that it was actually about a 1/4in bigger than the orignal (as you can see in the picture) I contacted EAS and they told me that "they had installed many of these filters on cars before and that the air box simply had to be forced down in order to close." I have installed many aftermarket filters on multiple cars and have never had to do this to get the air box to close again. Needless to say I disagreed that a "direct replacement filter" required a forceful installation, unless it was just a poorly made product. Therefore after a few unhappy phone calls they finally agreed to simply return my money as soon as I shipped their filter back. I am now wondering if anyone has had the same issue? I've also been looking at the AFE drop in filter and was wondering everyones opinions on it? (As far as fitment and quality)
Thanks, Elvis |

Kinda lame that they say it needs forcing. Nice toes, btw.

Just out of curiosity, did you contact Macht Schnell directly to see what their take was on the fitment? Any aftermarket filter I've ever used fit as well as OEM.

No I didn't contact them directly since I didn't purchase the filter directly from them. And exactly, every aftermarket filter I have purchased and installed has fit just as well as OEM.

If it were me, I'd make the call, if for no other reason just to see what they have to say.
