Unhappy with wheel refurb colour

Well, i got my 313 wheels refurb by Dips at custom cars.

When i got the wheel back, there is alot of imperfections and the colour inside the spoke is about 2 shades darker when compared to OEM wheel.

The diamond cut edges where it meets the paint, alot was flaky under the laquer, i didn't take any of the photo for that.

I then show dips and he offered to do them again.. which took 2 weeks.. this time i just ask him do it all in silver if he can't make the edges perfect. ( he even told me diamond cut will be like that)

end result of all silver refurb...

Well, now i really hate the color, it is bright silver and looks very bright in real life.

I wish i can get them refurb again....

what do you guys think i should do? folk out another £300 for refurb?

I think the wheels look good in that colour, however, they don't suit a white car.
I think a white car needs anthracite so it contrasts against the white.
In the same way a black or dark car works with white wheels as they are opposites

What colour would you recommend on a white car? Grey?

I thought dips was supposed to be one of the best around, looking at the original work its not great.
I say go for a gunmetal/anthracite type colour
Or for something totally different sparkling graphite
My e90 is sparkling graphite and when clean is a lovely colour

i thought so too, maybe he is not good at diamond cut?

I ask him if the first time was done by him or his apprentices etc, he told me he did it.

There's a service on eBay ... Something along the lines of part Ex you're wheels for the same genuine set but in a variety of different finishes

There's a diamond cut set

Mate, i wasn't a fan of my polished lips did either.

I know a few high quality wheel guys and very well priced if you want your wheels done.

Alan
Sorry to hear that you are struggling with 313s as well.
In silver colour they are very much like any 313 replica out there.
If you get them refurb again, they will still lack oem colour.
Get rid of them and buy 359 from CM wheels. Black wheels will compliment the white colour and black roof of your car very well.

Really shocked by the end result Alan, I've just had my wheels done, mine were krrbed scuffed the lot (by the previous owner who was a London lady and liked ensuring she was close to the kerb)but mine turned out superb

Mine were done in a day I went back and checked just after they'd come out of the kiln and looked at all the edges plus the inner curves for paint issues and there were none. But on diamond cut I know as I've spoken to several refurb company's including the one they done mine that although it can be done it's perhaps the most difficult really to carry off successfully.

Sorry to hear re the attempt to correct the issue too, I'd say a gunmetal, anthracite type colour the way to go, too dark you'll as you know will lose the detail your trying hard to highlight.

Mine are slightly darker, but no loss of detail.
I thought about going black to match the rest of my trim, but decided against it due to losing all detail unless you're close to them, and they make your tyres look grey too

Anychance you can forward me the detail?

I'm looking for cheap way to remendy this problem. since the alloy has been refurb, it's a matter of paint now.

Lepson charge a fortune

I used Lepsons for one 313 and it was a lot darker than the original. The quality was better than original (Lepsons are very good) but the colour match was not so good !

Just beware anywhere when doing just one 313 !!

Sadly Alan I don't think there's such a way as doing it cheaply it'll still cost roughly what you've paid to re do the wheels again plus there's the issue that the finish again might not be right(hate saying this of course but there's a risk isn't there)

Mine were done by Letchworth Diamond Wheels http://letchworthdiamondwheels.com there well known in my area but logistically for you is say its a fair way to travel to get something sorted. But I've gift to say looking at your wheel pictures again I can clearly see the disappointment you're feeling.

But for someone like Dips(who I've read good things about)I'm as stated above surprised at the end product.

I've seen enough wheels being done through my times in the trade poorly executed masked wheels with tyres still on which is fine for selling a car, but that's it, diamond cut wheels are a different matter most shy away from them, locally in my area are Mint Alloys http://www.mintalloys.com another company I know of who look after some local body shops and the local Aston Martin,Jaguar dealership is Pristine Alloys http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk
but for you Alan there's Diamond Alloys http://www.diamondalloys.co.uk/?id=a...FfOhtAodHSMAYg beauty for you is they'll collect as they are based in London and have a decent set up for collection in the Home Counties I know people who have used them and have been happy with the end result, but might be worth calling them first I'd say.

Hope this helps

they look a little darker than pictured when viewed naturally

More like these where the light was more acceptable but they are a cracking colour though due to the matt textured finish need some care, for now and in the future.

I think they're awesome mate, colours just right I'd say.
I notice you got the down pipes I want, did you get them from USA?

Im going for a little more horses, and like the idea of them.

did they make a difference in power and noise?

Maybe take this to PM
