thoughts on plastidip/wrap
i have a 2012 f30 335 in black and i find this color very plain. I was looking forward to plastidiping the grill, badges, door handles and other things to add accenting colors but it doesn't work too well on a black car.
i know plastidip is a LOT cheaper than wrapping but ive heard mixed reviews from plastidip. does anyone have experience with either of these? and could you estimate how much it would be to dip/wrap the whole car im mostly worried about reversing the process and the damage that could happen to the original paint. also, since im not garage parked and i experience all four seasons would that have any effect on the dip/wrap |

I did plasti dip and all my friends have done it to their cars. I'm going to get a dip gun to plasti dip my brothers whole entire car once he gets an F10 again. If you bought the car wrap it, if you leased plasti dip.

door handles? really?
dip is good for those accent pieces (grills, chrome bits)......its also a good way to test the look....then if you like it...you can wrap it. The other difference is dip is matte....so if you wanted something shiny you'd have to wrap

I had my car plasti dipped once.
If done properly it will look great. my advice to you is to make sure you use enough plastidip, even more than what it is recommended (the thicker the plasti dip gets the better it will look and more durable it will be) and do the whole thing in one step.

Money can't buy taste...
Plasti-dip, in my opinion, is not for a newer car. In fact, the thought of it on a newer BMW is ridiculous and gauche. I would consider it if I had an old Jeep CJ7 with terrible paint. Other than that type of situation, I wouldn't put it on anything. Period. |

plastidip is the grossest fad going on the past few years... it looks cheap, wears poorly and is the best way to ruin a nice car.
i recently drove to a bmw dealer to look at an f10 m5 they just took in... sadly the previous owner ruined it by spraying plastic dip on all the brightwork, grills, mesh etc. it was awful. i thanked the SA for his time and walked away. |

Everyone I know who has plastidipped has usually regret it at the end of it because it never comes off as easy or flawless as you want it to.
That and it makes you look like you get your mod's from pep boys. Don't do it.
