My brothers crash story/2011 impala no insurance

My brother unfortunately crashed his impala 2011, sucks because he had no insurance on it. He was telling me how he wanted to put insurance on it, and then report it, isnt that too suspicious? lol i thought it was a joke at first, but i told him not to, not worth it. Windows broke and the side is scratched.

That's insurance fraud. Don't do it.

You're going to commit insurance fraud and post proof of your intent here? Jesus Christ man don't be daft. You should delete this thread ASAP!

OP, did you check how much it would cost to get the window fixed without going through insurance?

If a police report was filed, the insurance co will match the date of the police report against the date of the start of his insurance policy and will catch him with insurance fraud. Not a smart idea. Bigger question is why was he driving around without insurance anyways?

You mean he didn't have comprehensive coverage and only ran around with liability right? Was it at least paid off? Either way risky game playing w/o comprehensive. Live and learn. Hopefully its cosmetic damage only and not structural/mechanical.

He doesn't realize that when you put new comprehensive and collision coverage on an old/used car, you have to bring the car to a place designated by the insurer. They will inspect the car visually and take many photos of the car. So, it ain't gonna work, Paco's brother.

I'll tell you a story, I had a customer that came into my agency, he looked suspicious, that he needed insurance ASAP because he was going out of town, I thought it was fishy but I went ahead and gave him insurance, 5 minutes after a lady called saying that the guy hit her,
He came into my office on a Chevy truck, he insured a f150,
Well long story short, the insurance paid for the accident -.- I was super pissed because I knew it was a fraud claim but either way they paid

This wasn't the case for me on my e46. Bought it used from a private party out of state. Called my insurance co. while on the road to get it and drove it home. Never had to do anything else insurance wise. Car insurance is state controlled so perhaps your state requires this.

Commit insurance fraud! Then report back!

This is one of the beautiful reasons insurance rates won't be going down anytime soon

you can't say or point someone and tell the insurance that is a fraud claim, if I don't have any proof I could get sue by the customer, it sucks right? Same thing happened when a customer stole my iPhone from my desk, only customer that came into the office in the morning, either way I couldn't do anything about it.

Wait that doesn't make sense--what am I missing?

Someone comes in and buys insurance. Gets covered at a certain point in the day.
5 minutes later someone calls in a claim--presumably there was an accident report, with associated time and date.....no?

You can't come into this forum committing a felony. I believe its a felony or at least a misdemeanor fraud.

He has no money no insurance and want to scam the insurance company. Sounds like America to me. I hope your IP address gets tracked.

Your brother sounds smart. Who the fuck doesn't have insurance anyway? In Canada, you can't register your car without proof of valid insurance.

Wow. You are seriously misinformed.

Facts are facts. You can never open yourself up to liability by stating them....beyond that maybe is a different story.

If it's a scratch on the side, and broken windows.
Year cost of insurance x 2, pay just cover it.

So, not worth the fraud.
Now if it was a 63 Impala....lol

Other than for agreed value classic car insurance, I have never had to have any car I have ever owned looked at by anyone to get full insurance coverage. That said, insurance rules vary wildly by state.

And for others on this thread - collision insurance covers damage you do to your own car that is your fault. Comprehensive is insurance on your car that covers things that are NOT your fault. If you hit something, it is a collision claim, if something hits YOU it is a comprehensive claim, as a general rule.
