Calling all experts and detectives
Can anyone help me to identify this wire/plug that comes from behind the firewall into the glove box. It looks like it is most likely for a phone, but I wondered if it could be leftover from some modification done by the previous owner. I have only had the car a few weeks. It is a 2007 335i. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Evil Previous Owner might have tapped into the fuse panel to power the iPhone. The fuse panel is located behind the glovebox (see the owner's manual).
I tend to use the cigar lighter circuit for stuff like that, but to each his own. I'd follow the cable to its power source, and disconnect it.

It looks like the old dealer installed ipod adaptor. I had it on my e46 and it worked pretty well. Get an old 40 gig ipod off ebay for $30, load it up with music and leave it in your glovebox. You can control it through your steering wheel or radio.
