Help: Heavy Rain + Flood = Bmw Errors
Hello,
I was driving in a heavy rain for about 30 mintues. I came across two streets that were flooded. Therre was no way for me to turn around or avoid these streets. Both floods were not deep or lengthy (less than 5 meters long). When i drove past the second flood a list of error codes popped up... Did The rain just fuck up my car ? Probably got it into one of your main electrical boxes or caught into a module. Best of luck.

I think what he means is that there a quite a few electrical connectors, sensors, and control modules scattered throughout the under carriage of the car, although they can handle road mist, and basic elements, full submerge of these things spells failure, if something shorted out, maybe check fuses? I'd bring it to a good Indy shop and see if they can determine the cause.

I'd not panic. All that happened is one of the wheel speed sensors got really wet (or maybe just the connector). The ABS, brakeforce control, and tire pressure system all work off of the speed sensors. When one goes bad (temporarily in this case) those systems will show faults.
Let the car dry out for a few days; just drive in normally. If one of the speed sensors did get damaged (they are hermetically sealed) then it's a simple replacement and the part is probably not that expensive. |

SAME EXACT thing happened to me but I hit a huge pothole and bent 3 wheels. Right when I hit it my dash lit up just like yours. I pulled over and turned it off and inspected damages. 3 inner bends which I found out after but noticed it when driving. It turned off when I started it up again. I took it in to the dealer just in case they said the wheel speed sensor got tweaked and just set it off its no big deal.
Probably same thing happened to you or you fried your speed sensor. |

flooded X6M
I had to get by 14" of water after the rain on a 3 week old X6M with 1200 miles. I was trying to leave work at 3 PM on Friday, because they predicted same weather up until Sunday. Car chocked, and seized. Bottom line, Car is at the dealer waiting for a new Motor Block to come from Germany. Insurance company issuing a check for $31,740.00. Might be even more after new motor is installed. Insurance company is NOT Totaling this car, because water did not get inside. Air Intakes are located right above the front bumper, and if someone ass on a pick up truck makes a splash, your car is done.
