Idrive

So this may be a stupid question but does bmw make an actual software update for the system itself....not maps, but overall system.? I have a 2010 cic.
I went in bmw's website to look at telephone support and it ask me what version of software I have, which I can't tell but the update site says my vin is up to date, but I doubt it.

Update...I'm an idiot and forgot to write the reason why I was looking for a software update....I have an iPhone 5 and when I connect it to the car, go to USB, it says reading, then not supported....I have tried 3 different cables and 2 different phones still with no luck
I am only using the apple lightning cable and I have also tried the 30 pin adapter...nothing works, and I just want to listen to my music that way.

You need the BMW Y-splitter cable in order for it to read your iPhone.

Apple makes an adapter, but I only use my iPod in the car so I can leave it in there, I've never plugged my iPhone into the Y connector.

This thread will probably be useful. If I'm understanding it correctly, you will need a "lightning adapter" from Apple in order to connect to a Y cable. So attach the adapter to the Y cable and it should work in your car.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758527

◦ The "Lightning adapter" is an adapter available via Apple to convert the old 30-pin plug to the new 8-pin connector or "Lightning cable". It is already on sale by Apple and retails for $29.99 (for the adapter) or $39.99 for the adapter cable.

Overal system update is only possible with special BMW Devices and Software, which also can be bought but is is not cheap and easy.

Which month of 2010?

Lado

I already have the BMW Y splitter and apple lightning adapter and still does not work. My dealer said to try the lightning cable directly in USB and that should work which it doesn't. I'm at a loss here
