engine cranks but wont fire
Hey guys,
this morning my n46 e90 died on me 1 minute after starting it and driving off. I couldnt start it back up again. The engine would just crank and not fire. I plugged an obd 2 dongle and read the following codes. p100f p1062 p1030 P2610. I must advise ive got a battery on its way out but that hasnt stopped the car starting previously, and like isad the engine cranks. Much appreciated. |

I have absolutely no info on those codes.
Car needs 3 things to start. Gas, Ignition, Air. Start eliminating from there, and move on. There is also the possibility of a programming malfunction. In all honesty, just have it towed to a shop for diag. |

This is from another thread.
I got INPA, scanned and found these codes. 2A63 Valvetronic, servomotor 1 2A59 Valvetronic, eccentric-shaft sensor 1 2A5B Valvetronic, eccentric-shaft sensor 1 2A70 Valvetronic, servomotor 2A67 Valvetronic, internal fault 2F80 System time, plausibility 2A6B Valvetronic, power limitation, servomotor basically car cranks but won't start. There is a bit of oil in the ECS, and I've tested the servo motor with a multimetre, and it seems to have a mild resitance. |

Test the battery with a multimeter. Could be the alternator isn't charging the battery.
Is it a fast crank or really slow? Fuel injection doesn't start until the motor hits a certain rpm. |

I've had the eccentric shaft sensor problem before. My car would not start, i thought it was the battery so changed it but still didn't start. Mechanic thought it was the valvetronic motor. Replaced that and died two weeks later. The car would have a rough cold start rpms bouncing up and down. Had the car in the shop for about a month to figure out what was happening. He accidentally brke the eccentric shaft sensor while cleaning out the valves. Had to replace it, and the car has been running fine, about 6 months now. Have a good indie mechanic to see what's really going on before you start paying for parts and labor.
