Oil change

I recently bought mobil 1 0w-40 for my bmw 328i 07 model at Walmart. I noticed that it had " recycle used oil at participating dealer" does it mean that the oil that I bought was recycled ??

Lol, nooooo. It just means you can bring back your old oil for them to send off for recycling. They make asphalt, and all kinds of stuff from it. The only recycled oil widely available on the market is Valvoline Nextgen, but I believe even that is phasing out.

M1 0w40 is what I use and it's awesome. Next run I may give Castrol a whirl since the M1 rewards program went away.

pretty sure that means to throw out your used oil at places that will take it. pepboys for example (as do all other auto parts stores I'm sure)

You should be able to return used oil to your township recycling center. My town accepts old oil once/month.

Any shop that changes oil will take your oil. Most of them get paid to pickup their old/used oil.

That's about what you'll pay for anything comparable - after all it's made in Germany and someone has to pay for importing it to the US.

That's why most people just buy the BMW branded oil at the dealer - it's a couple bucks cheaper, and probably just as good (especially if changing it more often than the engine calls for.)

Ha, for sure. First time I buy a quart alone for my e90. Usually by the time I get low oil light due to my leak is time for oil change. Which I will do pretty soon anyways. I just had to buy one quart since I got the yellow low oil warning light few days ago.
