question about tire wear.

I noticed that on last 2 tire changes, my passenger front tire's outside edge wears much faster than inside tire edge thus wearing tire prematurely.
so I figured I need front end alignment and got alignment done but they told me my front is within spec. and the rear that wears the tire nice and even is out of spec. sounds strange to me.
anyone else having similar tire wear issue on front passenger side?

Camber issue- these cars are notorious for it. Are you an xi or RWD?

what I don't get is that alignment is within spec...but wears outside edge
more and pass. side even more than drivers side...

I know the feeling- something similar used to happen all the time to me on my 2009 328 xi coupe- only my problem was the scalloping of the tires.

Funny thing was no one was able to figure it out and by the time I knew it the lease was up so I couldn't have cared less.

Alignment is one thing- camber and toe are quite another.

I am not exactly certain how they work, and it may not even be part of your issue, but it's definitely worthwhile to get them checked- others on the forum who has more experience in this area may be able to chime in for more detail

This is more likely due to driving rather than alignment.

Do you always turn left onto your parking place, your garage, your driveway, your neighborhood?
If the alignment is fine, then the wear is probably due to low-speed scrubbing when turning sharply into one of the above. I had the same wear on a previous car because I always turned hard left immediately before parking at home or work.

Slowing down when making that "last turn" helps quite a bit.

Hope it's something as simple as this. Good luck.

Yeah that showed up when my car had only 9k miles. I have the zsp but I mentioned a bulletin on the other Bridgestones. They checked the car twice and the alignment was perfect. Though I never insisted on the report, I believe them because again the car was practically new, tread was deep, yet the outer edges were feathering. I don't let it bother me anymore, tires are cheap anyway (NOT)....

I have 2006 330i with sportpackage.
Stock rim and tire.
I'm having to replace front tire due to out side tire balding.
Inside tire still have a little less than 1/4" tread.

I have same issue, the middle of the tire looks like it has much more to go, but the outside of the tire is going to force me lot sooner to change tires...Grrrr

Its because race car, I have some camber in the rear on my car, I took it to get it aligned, but they barely brought it out, I had inner wear on my left rear, if you corner fast too it will cause outer tire wear too, camber arms are needed to adjust the rear from hella camber like the darn honders and such to perfect how you want it, same goes for front but camber plates vs camber arms.
