Placed 08' 335i Order @ VOB 1/3/08

I have been waiting for the stupid 08' M3 since I placed my deposit in late June, but I couldn't deal with the wait on pricing any longer. I broke down and went for the 335i.

I made sure its nearly identical to the M3 I had my deposit on:

Alpine White
Coral Red Leather
Alloy Trim
6 Speed
Navigation
Sport Pkg.
CW Pkg.
Premium Pkg.
Comfort Access
HD, iPod, Sat
M Aero Kit

My experience at VOB has been great thus far, my salesman Jim is awesome.

So with an order placed on Thursday, January 3rd I am hoping the car will be here late February. Jim said 6 weeks, so the REAL wait begins.

For now I will entertain myself with YouTube videos and a mod wish list!

I also wanted to ask if any of you have requested that the car not be "prepped" at the dealer? I am going to ask Jim to leave all the plastic on so I can tear it apart myself...I dream of this day when I watch my baby come off the transport truck.

congrats ... is the aero kit confirmed to be the M [Tech] kit? or is it add-on lip kit for the front bumper and the rear bumper with the grilles?

Seems to be the kit that is on the BMW NA website...didn't know there was a difference?

I am going to watch my car as its shipped over and then tell my dealer I don't want them to put any plates, badges or license plate holes on the car. I don't mind them taking of the plastic. But that's it, I want the car to be the exact way it left the factory.

BTW I ordered my car Dec 21st, I thought I would have it mid February. It still doesn't have a production date and I called the 1800 number and they said 4th week of Jan!!!! So that means I won't get it until March. I hope they are wrong but it looks like things are going really slow right now in Germany as others have reported similar findings.

Yeah I have seen some of your posts...hopefully things will pick up soon. If the M3 pricing comes out before the 335i gets here I am just going to get the M3.

Car went into production yesterday! Completion date is slated for 1/13/08...car could be here by late this month!

My salesman gave me a printout, the car already has a VIN number! I am so happy!

Wow you ordered it Jan 3rd and its already going into production. Wow, the dealer must have had a car just like you wanted almost ready to go into production. Still waiting for mine to get scheduled for production Looks like your getting pretty much everything I am except I am going for the black leather and you go coral red. Wonder if our cars will make it on the same boat, I ordered from Fairfax BMW so they might get here at the same time.

Maybe, I leased for two years that way when the lease runs the E92 M3 will be in good supply. I feel like a made a good decision, no regrets. Saving money and building up credit + waiting for any bugs on the US cars and the M-DCT tranny to be released.

Congrats on the new ride.

Question: I am thinking about ordering from VOB as well, 335i coupe. Would you mind sharing your experience (pricing, sales talk, etc.)? Feel free to send a private message or email as you may not want to make the information public.

Talk to My guy Ilhan at VOB and tell him Joey sent you. He's an M owner and the best in the business. Over the years he has become a good friend and I have sent many others to him and they have all been really happy. I have purchased 3 cars from him in 2 years, and whenever something cool comes in he calls me to come take a test drive. He'll give you a great deal too and set you up with everything you need. PM me if you want his info.

Congrats! I am on my 8th BMW. Anyway, I never get my cars detailed. Have your dealer do the insides. They have to take wheel blocks off, external starter and such. My dealer writes in soap on the window when it comes off the truck "Do Not Detail". But they really do have stuff to do in the interior that they will rightly insist on doing.

Oh, and if car is scheduled for completion on the 13th you will not see it until mid-Feb. 3-7 days to port, wait for ship for 2-4 days and then 11-15 days on the ocean. 2-5 days at VPC.

I've been trying to decide between the m3 and 335i as well, but more and more I'm leaning toward the 335i.
Please let us know how your deal goes with VOB. I've heard good things about them. Also, post pics of your car with the aero kit.

I decided against the factory aero kit, instead I ordered the M-Tech front from Germany!
