The E91 335i's Replacement

So some of you may know my brief dabble in the BMW world has now been replaced and I have to say I'm properly over the moon! Don't get me wrong, loved my E91 and would have kept it much longer if I wasn't given the opportunity to buy something else I've always fancied.

So I fully expect to get some hate and the usual comparison video posted but real world, in our lovely UK climate, the new wagon is ideal.

The old one:

And it's replacement:

That looks lovely. Nicely prepped too, which makes a huge difference. Enjoy it!

Hope you enjoy the new motor buddy. Find it very hard to get excited about the A3 no matter what form it takes..they haven't really changed much over the last few years.

Used to have an 8L S3 which I loved, but if I was going to buy an Audi now it would have to be an RS4 or 6.

Yeh the whole presentation, facilities, sales man (MD!) etc was spot on. I knew it was 'the one' instantly when I saw it.

Thanks mate! That was my only 'had to have', the buckets, having had them in my S3 and RS4. They are by far the best road car seat I have ever sat in.

That's fair enough mate, everyone is different, the world would be a boring place if we weren't!!

The 8L S3 is now quite sort after as a bit of a 'retro classic'. Having had a stage 2+ S3 8P, the RS3 is just the next natural step for me.

I really didn't like my B7 RS4 but the newer one is pretty special but it's just too big for me, always will be a hot hatch boy at heart!!

RS3 is a great car with a great engine. Looks a nice example there too. The only thing I would say is check the front tyres are the correct size as from the photo's I would say they have fitted 225's on the front and they should be 235's. The RS3 runs wider front tyres than the rear, opposite to BMW's.

Car looks stunning, I can fully understand the change.

To be honest, I'd swap my wife for those seats haha, always jealous of those.

Looks stunning.I would love an RS of some sort (keep on looking at the B7 and B8 RS4),but keeping hold of one is too much of a hassle and especially with buckets-it's too much of a scumbag magnet.
Enjoy!,but make sure that you budget for some decent security.I would be interested in a write up too...

It's running 235's all round buddy, I checked that when I viewed the car. I think the tyres look smaller because of the 'Allygator's' on the wheels.

Thanks Billyray. I do hear quite a few stories of the seats and cars being stolen so security is high on the list of mods. Unfortunately there will always be scumbags around.

Nice car!
Cheers Sam! Comprehensive feedback will be tricky as I'm no motoring journalist!!

All I will say is that it's been hooning it down with rain here for most of the day and I've just been to the tip. It swallowed up all of the items I wanted to take, including a single metal bed frame (dismantled obviously) and then on the way home was a hoot to drive around a very twisty and wet national speed limit country road!

Grip levels were insanely good.
The 5cyl noise is intoxicating.
The ride is a little harsh but re-assuringly planted.
Power from the already mapped and inter-cooled lump is mental with perfect delivery.
The gearchange from the 7 speed DSG box is almost instant and the pop from the exhaust on upchange is addictive.

All in all, I'm in love with my Audi

The 8P platform is long in the tooth now but that RS3 is a beauty.

Thanks for quick feedback. My ignorance, but is it faster than your remapped E91?
Does it feel more planted compared to your E91?
Is it really more fun to drive compared to your E91?

I am not trying to get you banned here but interested to hear your views on the points which I asked.

i think the rs3 would be quicker then remapped 335is etc and e9x m3.

the rs3 is honestly rapid. even though its got like 340hp or something like that the launch control is deadly.

OP. be careful with the buckets. few bolts and there out the car and gone...a friend of mine had them in his sportback S3 he ended up selling as attracted too many people, get tints in my opinion only way to keep them safe

Great the RS range. Had the opportunity to drive the RSQ3 and RS7 on Thursday. The RS7 blew me away.... Lambo territory !! If I get chance I may post some pics if anyone is interested.

BTW you may regret having those bucket seats on a long drive. They look great but not the most comfortable seats. A mate had them in his new RS5 and he didn't like them not too long after buying the car !
