Front tyre Puncture
Hi guys,
I've fallen victim to an unfortunate tyre puncture to my driver side front tyre. Luckily I was very close to home so I was able to drive it back home without any issues. What would be the best course of action ? Should I just replace the one tyre or replace both fronts? Early last year I had a puncture to my off side rear tyre and I just had that replaced and has been driving fine ever since. But with that being said, if I just get my front tyre replaced, all the tyres will have a different tread level to each other. Will this cause any issues? Thanks . |

1st point, are they runflats? If yes replace those feckers with non run flats and buy Tyre weld.
If not, have a look at non effected tyre, if it has loads of tread just replace damaged one. If not, replace both.

Personally, i think that unless your expecting to be pushing grip levels to the limit then aslong as the undamaged tyre has 3mm+ then just replace one. Yeah the new one will have better grip but will you notice in everyday driving? Highly unlikely.

Sorry, should of clarified that they are infact normal tyres. Unfortunately tyre weld would not have helped me in this case as the air was leaking from the rims if that makes sense lol. It's a slow puncture.

I was in a similar situation recently with the D/S/F tyre (all non runflats) It took 2 Kwikfit garages and another (more reliable) fitters to confirm it
The other 3 tyres were relatively good (about 6mm) so I had to fit a different one, as they are Dunlops and they had no immediate stock. It was a long term 'slow puncture' in the sidewall. The pressure monitor kept warning me, I would check it and it lost about 10psi over a few days. The first 2 tyre houses couldn't find it and even scrutinised the rims for cracks! Imagine how relieved I was when I found out it was just the tyre. Tell you what though, the tyre pressure monitor works really well |

Had this last night on my other halfs Mercedes front passenger car. We replaced both fronts this morning at a local tyre place. given that we wanted the same tread levels we did both but being the front I'm of the opinion It doesn't make too much difference.
On the rears I would always replace both because you want each wheel to have the same grip when acellerating hard. |
