I had to replace the wear sensors before I could then reset the brake service indicator via Idrive menu. It wouldn't reset until I'd replaced the sensors though.

DIS isn't required - I don't have any software and managed to reset it via the menus in idrive in the same way that you can reset the service indicator (search on here will find the procedure).

Sorry, no idea about non-idrive cars.

Interested in this also... Strangely the idrive is saying my front brakes only have 900 miles left in them but they still have plenty of meat on them yet my rear pads had 11000 miles according to Idrive and they were nearly down to the metal - just had them replaced though.

Looks like they were reset incorrectly previously so can I just reset my fronts?

What a Ball Ache this turned out for me.

Had the Brake warning (Rear) come up on my dash on starting. Checked the pads and they where fine.

The car has only done 22k from new and I have had it since the summer, so I thought OK new pads all round some decent pads and of course new sensors.

Warning was still there So tried the reset option seen on here and youtube, made things worse.

Ended up having to have a complete reset and coded out!!!
