MPerformance Rocker Panel Film DIY for F32
I just received my rocker panel film and was wondering if its a DIY item or should I not chance it and take it somewhere to have it installed? I already read through the installation PDF and although it seems doable, I dont currently have a heated garage to park and apply.

I recommend taking it to a shop as I've read a few post where individuals have screwed up the install. I took mine to the dealer and they brought in there vinyl graphics guy to do the install.

I also saw a post where somebody tried the install and failed. He ended up buying another set and having a tint/vinyl shop install it for him.
Depends on your level of aptitude and experience, I think. Pros make it look easy but I know I'd screw it up, personally. |

Did it myself but no DYI available. Lift the car on the side you are working, make sur the body of the car (and the surroundings) are immaculate and be very patient. Do not apply too much pressure and do not hesitate to remove and reapply. Get a buddy to do it with you so that the film can always stay well positioned (including when you are busy with the squeeze on area's you just completed). Keep pictures of the finished job close to the car so that you can check little positioning details as you make progress. But first and foremost: Patience, patience, patience

I did it myself. I used the wet application. Put a tad of detergent in the water spray bottle. Key is to spray the vinyl side and the car body. When you apply it, it slides around very easily. Since I was on my own I used tabs of tape to keep it roughly in place. Like I said it slides around very easy and falls into place, use your squeegee and push the water out from centre to the edge. I found it very easy, but I am generally good at these things. Ask yourself this....if you do stuff it up, will it annoy you that you had to buy a second set. If not give it a shot as you will learn something.

Did you ever end up doing this as a DIY? I'm considering doing the same.
