Finally pulled the trigger!!!

After two months of saving and endless changes of mind I have finally brought home my new baby:

Name: G37 01.JPG
Views: 1157
Size: 47.3 KB

If you read my G37 vs 335 comparison you could have probably seen this coming. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this car and really feel I have made the best decision for me. It may be slightly slower than the 3 but it makes up for it in value and content. Plus it just drives better than anything else in this segment (besides the Bimmer of course).

The deal itself was one of the more interesting ones I've ever made. There was no negotiation; John (my sales associate) just asked me up front what I wanted to pay for the car. I had worked up a sheet with invoice and options listed in preparation for a life and death struggle over price and this caught me totally off guard. Without even thinking I blurted out $40,500 and he said "deal!" This works out to about $2500 off MSRP and around $2k over invoice. Still it was at least $8k less than I could have gotten a comparable 335i for so I am happy (plus John and everybody else at Atlantic Infiniti were just top notch and treated me extremely well). Anyway, here are the details:

2008 Infiniti G37 Sport
6MT - Black Obsidian/Black leather

Invoice - 32688

Premium package - 2757
Navigation - 1896
Illuminated kickplates - 268

Destination - 715
Profit for dealer - 2176

Total - 40,500 plus tax/tag/title

Here's a very crappy interior pic (better pics on the way soon) with the lighted kickplates!

Congrats! The interior is indeed nice.

Good deal too! You can use that $8k to put a twin turbo kit on the new car and it'll give the 335i a run for it's money.
If I could get an interior like that on my 335i, i would be worth the $8k.

If you did ED, you could have gotten a 335i for about $2k more for the options you listed.

Not sure how you got it from $8k down to $2k with the ED??? THe difference is much smaller than that. Plus, you have to do the ED -- plane tix, hotels...

I just realized that we get a 1.7% under invoice deal at Infiniti through the company I wirk at. That would get me G35S + Premium for $33k which is over $10k savings over e90 335... Easy choice...

for your options, a similarly equipped 335i coupe can be had for close to 48k plus tax and license. that's 8k difference, correct me if I am wrong (prem, sport package, navigation, and whatever else u wanted). And for Ed - well, you can figure it out from the ed price list. Maybe not down to 2k.. a little over $3k maybe.

Again, I am not following:

1) We agree that the price difference is about $8k

2) ED savings:

335i Sedan $38,900.00 $36,175.00 $2,725.00
335i Coupe $40,800.00 $37,945.00 $2,855.00

That is $3k in savings.

3) You have to purchase the round trip ticket + hotel stay plus... = that will be close to $2k at least.

So, how do you come up with $3k difference???

$8k - $3k (ED savings) = $5k diff
$5k + $2k (ED spendings) = $7k diff

Definitely not worth it IMO...

I can get the same price with my company as well, but i went with the 335i instead.

You're not comparing apples to apples.
Why are you not adding options?
I'm working on a deadline, but I'll also post prices later. My figures are ballpark, but I'm close.

I know for a fact that a 335i coupe with auto, premium pkg, sports pkg, cold weather pkg, navigation, rear sunshade, ipod/usb option, paddles go for a bit over 49k (I have the sticker). I also know the ed price of the same car is about 44k (plus minus 1k). That's 5k right there.

If you're watching your dollars, you can stay a week in Germany for $1500..

What are we arguing about here?
49k (for the car I had in mind) vs the 40.5k for the lexus is about $8k, am I not correct? I noticed I threw in an auto which inflates the price of the 335i, but you get the ideal that the difference in price between the 335i and the lexus is about $8k (minus the tranny so lets say about $6.5k). You can still buy a turbo kit yeah? That's my point. I'm not telling you that you will save $8k between ed and MSRP (I saved $6k when I did my ED). I'm telling ya you're saving that difference between the lexus vs the 335i (we on the same page now?).

Congrats! I almost got one of those but I got suckered into driving a Z4C and bought it that day... I can't decide whether to do a happy face or a frowny face...

I forgot to mention that they threw in the 6 year/100,000 bumper to bumper extended warranty from Infiniti for the $40,500 as well. In my case, I put down $10,750 and financed over 6 years. I have very bad credit so my interest rate is 12% but other than that I'd say I did alright. Some people on AZ think I should have gotten them down to $500 over invoice, but I feel that the service I have received is worth the extra money I paid....

Btw, I'll get some more pics up asap (its raining right now but I'll try to get some anyway).

Congrats on the new G37! It looks very nice (nearly identical to the one I have).

Feel free to check out the G37 forums. We have plenty of people who were deciding between a 335i and a G37. It's a nice community and the members really do appreciate both cars as well. Right now, most people are waiting for the aftermarket parts to finish R&D and start release products.

However, I still enjoy posting/reading here because I still like BMWs, and the members here do a good job of posting new car content and info. I am first and foremost a car enthusiast, and a few diverging viewpoints aren't a bad thing.

Gary
you saved $6k doing ED and BMW posts savings of <$3k for the 335.
I am not quite sure how it works, but you must have gotten the best possible deal in history with those savings... I wonder if anyone else got a $6k break doing the ED with the 335?

Assuming that your US price (non-ED) was at MSRP, you're claiming you actually got the car at $3k under the invoice...
