E92 M3 Service - Cheapest Option ?

Hi Guys,

Car has just hit 60k and needs a service, i have a few questions.

I have been quoted by my local sytner dealer that it will cost me £1016 for the below. This is the breakdown on the quote i was sent, i don't understand some of it too well :

What is the cheapest way of getting all of this done ? Are there things i can buy myself and supply ? Is there anything which is straight forward that i could do myself ? Also if i was to buy some of the items required, where would be the best place to purchase these ?

The labour cost seems to be the costly part of the service, and i am not paying someone £500+ to do the job if i can help it.

Please help out if anyone can, also sorry for the large images i don't know what i was doing.

Thanks

Johnny

Hi, I used to own an M3, luckily it had a service pack, otherwise I would have taken it to a BMW Specialist. My advice would be take it to a specialist before trying to work out what jobs you can do for yourself to save a few pennie, not worth the bother. A specialist will probably do a better job than BMW and be much much cheaper. There are quite a few specialists on here.

It's the labour charges that rapes you! Try an independent / BMW specialist!

But if it was me, I'd just take the pain of a sore arse, for the BMW service stamp!

If it's currently full BM history and you are planning to sell anytime soon then perhaps a good thing to keep the history and stamp. Otherwise a good indy will do the job for less.

Call up Sytner Sutton Coldfield and ask them for a quote and see if they can do it cheaper than the Birmingham or Oldbury one.

I went to an Indy and go the same service for around £750 so there is money saved right there.

Sold the car now and the independent service stamp made no difference in getting rid (might be different depending on buyer!)

Garage List
2011 M3  [0.00]
£15 + VAT for oil disposal....joke!
£127 + VAT for microfilter....easy money for the garage.

Microfilter is the easiest job going if you are looking to save money. It's only the cabin filter and they can be had for £50 or so. Saving of £100 for something not that big a deal.

Brake fluid price is a joke too. £80 + VATfor £5 of hydraulic fluid.

Perhaps try and negotiate some of it down. £250 of that service is very basic things, that are half the price on an non M car and no less of a job.
