Santa Pod

Hi Guys,
does anyone know if you can hire a helmet there? What is the price? Did you need one (modded 335 owners) and would you recommend buying. If so where's a good place to get one?

Many thanks!

You only need a helmet if your terminal speed is over 100mph which I suspect yours if modded might do.

I would go to any decent motorcycle shop or motorcycle clothing shop and try a few on see what you prefer. As a lot of different manufacturers helmets fit differently some you may find comfier than others. Then see what size you are then have a look online to see if you can find the helmet cheaper.
Never by a helmet second hand as you don't know if it's been in an accident or even just dropped as this can affect the structural integrity and it may not perform how it should do if it is in accident.

When we went to Santa Pod last year you only needed one of you finished faster than 110 mph, which none of us did.

Don't believe you can hire them at Pod. Tbh it's best to have your own. You don't need an expensive one as let's be honest you're fairly well protected as is unlike being on a bike.

Mine was about £60 and useful if you decide to go track daying too.

I have ordered a cheap ACU approved, ECER 22 - 05 approved helmet just in case I can break 110mph. Should come in handy any time I get to go go karting or do a track day.

With meth or ethanol you may crack 110mph.. Depends on how aggressively you are tuned.

Without I'd say more likely 106-110mph.

Yeah bike helmets aren't overly expensive. I'm a biker so I've always had one laying around but best to get your own which should add a bit of hygiene and a good fit then some hire or used lid. Plus like you said, always good for go karting!

From an 8mph rolling start, I have been able to get to 100 in 10 seconds, but as the speedo is overstating speed. Might that be 95mph? It may be close.

Download the dynolicious app and fix securely - makes doing the measurements easier. Not expensive but fairly good.

All about launching for low 1/4mile times.. Sub 13secs would be a good result!!

thank you for the tip.

Unfortunately I don't plan to use launch control. That will hurt my time

Not launch control.. Getting a good launch! I.e. Getting a good 60ft time is the biggest challenge.

They sell them in the shop there. I was told that I couldn't run again without it as I had just done 111 mph (335i DCT + JB4)

Mine was £40 2 years ago and to be honest it's pretty good for the money - nice and comfy.

Never run the M3 - got 12.8s with the 335i + JB4 (that was a one off, with plenty of runs 13.0 - 13.2s)

I would expect mid to low 13s with the M3 though. Going to run it at the BMW show this year to see how it goes.

Thanks!

I will have a look. They cancelled Sunday's event. I thought the weather for that area looked fine.
