Brake fluid
What brake fluid is everyone using?
I've got ebc pads and discs and think I've boiled the standard fluid. Will any 5.1 be ok? How much fluid will I need? Many thanks Tom |

ATE Super Blue, decent fluid for road use, and makes it super easy to see when its fully bled through the system (its blue, instead of yellow/clear).
I'm sure 1L will be enough for the full system. |

However just to make you aware it is not road legal (brake fluid cannot be coloured) i have passed mot's with it but you might get a funny tester. Or worse still you could invalidate your insurance / be liable to prosecution ( in the worst ever scenario ). Just sayin' |

Another thumbs up for ATE Super Blue.
Passed MOT this month, but never knew about insurance implications. Obviously anything linked to the brake fluid, like brake lines, won't be covered under warranty. ATE also do ATE Super Gold (or yellow), which is the same as the blue version, but just yellow in colour. It makes a fluid change a lot easier. OP, your pads were posted out today and should arrive on Monday |

you would be interested to know that most / all "performance" braking components are not road legal. The European Regulation 90 states that replacement braking components must deviate no more than 15% of their OE couter-parts. as such every single performance brake pad and disc is illegal for road use, as they mostly perform better than 15% of the OE part. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECE_Regulation_90 |
