DIY 435 M Performance Exhaust . Question...
I understand the dimple on the exhaust pipe serves as a cut point but I noticed that the directions for the Dinan exhaust say to move 1" downstream from the dimple for the 435. Does this methodology apply to the BMW MPE as well?
I'm considering DIY simply because I have had to cancel twice with the dealer and muffler shops tack on a premium because it's a BMW. |

I don't think it applys to the mpe as the dimple was designed for the mpe, plus you have about +/- an inch error either direction. Use dish soap on the rubber exhaust mounts and I just borrowed an exhaust cutter from autozone.

Thanks. Do you have the 4" exhaust? Auto zone states their cutter fits max of 3 1/4".

I bought this saw for $20 and a pack of blades for $7 and it worked perfectly. And I have a tool to use for something else. Also, if you have a problem getting the mounts out of the hangers, a simple removal of the single bolt holding the hanger drops the old muffler in seconds. |

UPDATE:
Had the MPE installed this morning at BMW dealership. I simply could not pass up on the price as it was about a wash vs. doing it myself or having a muffler shop do it. Very happy. IMO the overrun (MPPK) on this virgin exhaust is about 30 percent deeper vs stock. It'll be interesting to see how that develops as the exhaust seasons.
