What to get/budget for her birthday?
Recently started seeing this girl (going on three months) and her birthday is right around the corner. I'd like to get some thoughts on what type of gift to get her as well as what my budget should be. We haven't been dating long but we both really like each other and it's getting pretty serious.
Does it have to be shiny? If I were to get jewellery it would have to be from Tiffany (she's a big fan/going elsewhere not an option) but that idea was quickly kiboshed after I realized I'm setting the bar way too high and my friends convinced me out of it. They suggested spending $100 tops. So I was planning on getting her some yoga gear because she's a gym rat but clothes as a first birthday gift probably isn't a great idea and I would have to guess between a XS and S size without measuring her while she slept so I also nixed that idea. My current idea now is to get her some baking supplies because she's a home cake boss and it's something we can do together. Part of me feels it's not special enough to be a gift but I know she's been looking for some baking stuff anyway. Already paying for dinner and hotel if that matters. Anyone have any constructive input? What did/would you buy your significant other if you haven't been dating for very long? TL;DR: what do bitches like besides smiley faces? I would agree with your friend. 3mo dating, $100+/- gift is fair.
During 3mo, I am pretty sure you found what she likes and what she doesn't. I just went to safer route and bought past gf's some items (such as clothes to even cheaper purses) she always stopped and looked.

Definitely not jewelry and clothes because you don't know her taste enough or her size. For the baking stuff, she is also probably very specific about what she wants/ needs because it's her business. I think it should be something related to a hobby and something that won't be obvious if she doesn't use it/ wear it because she probably won't want to return it if she doesn't like it. Like, perhaps some yoga related accessories? A bag, towel, hair bands? From Lululemon if she likes that brand?

I've always gone over the top when it came to gifts for girlfriends but the trick is to listen to what they have, like or talk about all the time and surprise them with it.
Example: The girl I was just recently seeing got a MK bag for Christmas from her mother - I noticed the color and type and went to MK to get her a matching wallet. It cost me less than $100 and she fucking loved it because "I remembered."

what does she like in general?
What's her favorite hobby? What sports does she like? What clothing brand? (Gift card) If she has siblings ask them for help so they can ask her what she wants and you can surprise her with it. Last edited by e92_boost; 05-28-2015 at 05:06 AM.. |

Don't buy her an item. Take her out on a date she'll never forget if you really want to make an impression. Any dildo can go to a store and buy something, do you want to be a dildo?
I know you're in Canada, so I don't know..., maybe take her curling or 5 pin bowling with some poutine. ![]() |

Since you've only been seeing her for 3 months, don't get her a gift. Rather, take her out for a nice meal and drinks. She'll appreciate that more than a handbag, or whatever else you can think of. If her hobby is baking, then getting her a baking cookbook that you went out of your way to pick out would be a nice bonus.
It's not about how much it costs mate. Trust me. It's about how it makes her feel. |

I am being dead set serious, take advice from older men. Any woman that only wants jewellery from Tiffany's is gonna be a WORLD of hurt.
Either break up right now or buy something from a mid-tier jewellery store and see if she can handle. You don't need the horse shit that is gonna come your way in 10 years time based on the Tiffany's thing. |
