Heya guys i was curious to hear your thoughts on lowered car, And what is appealing about them, Cause i have seen so many people not only BMW drivers but so many lowering there cars so much that the tires disappear under the wheel arch.
Just a few examples bellow. ![]() ![]() ![]() This one bellow now this is an extreme example, It is a Honda xD ![]() Now i wonder why do people like this type of stance on the car what is it that people find so appealing. I My self i like lowered cars but not to that extent i like it when you can see the small gap, Not to big but a small one between the wheel and the wheel arches. Now i know its a highly personal taste between people in general but it would be fun to know. ![]() I like lowered cars, Like the examples bellow. It Makes the car look very appealing and sporty but the back of the car has to be a little bit higher up, Then the front to give it the aggressive attack mode look. Witch makes it look a bit like a, Diving jet plane going for attack mode. Now i do apologize if someone feels offended by this but i am not trying to start a flame war just curious on people thoughts regarding lowered cars. ![]() ![]() I Really like a car to feel like its going in to dive mode to attack somehow, Like the F-18 Fighter on the picture bellow. Well that is my thoughts on cars that are lowered. Love to hear your thoughts and expressions regarding lowered cars or in general cars what makes them look appealing to you. ![]() |

Super lowered cars are just a fad, just like slammed mini trucks. There's always people who like to do dumb shit to their cars, and sometimes, it's best to pay them no mind. We all recognize their stupidity, especially "stanced" cars that clearly run through tires like no tomorrow, but if they like spending money on tires, more power to them.
A modest lowering is good. The rest looks silly or is impractical. |

To me, they just look sad and broken, as if their shocks and springs just gave up and the owner doesn't have the money to replace them yet.

I like pretty close to slammed, but no stretched tires or tires disappearing up into the fender. This was my Z, not too long before I sold it. Excuse the quality, I had to pull it off Facebook because the original is on my home computer.

+1 on it being pointless but then again im practical so that doesn't appeal to me.
it's a statement, a form of art and so it depends on each person and ultimately its your car and not any of my business.

If I saw a car so low the wheels disappear under the arches I'd expect a young guy to be driving it. If a grown man got out of a car like this then I'd be hoping he'd borrowed his son's car. Point is, it just seems a little "boy racer" to me.
It's the kind of thing that is done more to an older vehicle in my experience. Doing it to a new or nearly new car is unforgivable. Having said all that it's personal choice at the end of the day and the way I perceive a car/person because it's on the deck will be different to the way others do. |

Well its fun to know about this cause obviously there is a lot of people who think that looks really good,
And then there those who don't. I just like to hear peoples opinion on that. I have been to loads of meetings here in my town and around places. And always or almost always there is those cars that are so super lowered that they are kissing the asphalt. Regardless of air suspension or not, Those car gets so much focus and not the bad type of focus. But people who think it looks good . So i think i am asking a quite a fair question what is it that people find attractive about lowering cars to that level. And just wanting a reasonable answer to why people like it and can motivate it good. And to "Mr. Fleeked" reason why i am using bold text is because there is a lot of pictures. And if the text is to small it will get lost in it. So you kinda proved my point about peoples attention span. But at least you noticed a text. So you must have read it. But then again its better to stay silent then say anything at all if you ain't got nothing to say. :-) And for the rest of you i appreciate you guys taking your time to answer. |

It's called "stance" and it's just about the worst thing to happen to car modding since fart can exhaust systems. Stance was cool. The last two pics you posted is what stance was when it first started. You set the car at a perfect "stance". Then somewhere along the way, some people decided that the first four pics you posted were what "stance" was all about. Undriveable, ugly looking, and impractically dropped cars.
I had one car that I stanced back in 2008 within OEM spec alignment that I owned until 2011 (even so, it was still a bit impractical): ![]() My current car has Eibachs on it with stock shocks. That's it. I'm out of that shit. |

as mentioned above....its a form of art, which i guess cant be argued.
me personally, i think its silly. the whole stance thing. Being a little lowered isnt bad. In fact there are some cars that look better (more proportioned) when lowered a little (inch or 2). but the slammed look is not for me.

different strokes for different folks. I personally modify my car to enhance the factory performance, not limit it but if thats what other people are into and they dont do it unsafely, I have no problem with it.
I have seen some stanced cars that are a danger to drive but I have found most that I encounter are fine. I actually went to a Stance Show last weekend and displayed my 1series for fun and had a blast. Everyone I encountered was super stoked on my car and were just as much a car enthusiasts as anyone you encounter at any of the more traditional bmw or euro shows. While not my taste or intention with my car, the amount of creativity in some of their builds was mind blowing. Modifying cars is very much a form of personal expression and if safe, it isnt fair for anyone to dictate or make rules on how anyone should do it. It is hard for many people to understand those types of builds but we should respect people's rights to do so and not bash them. |

To me, generally speaking, lowered = rice. There is a Range Rover I see around here, driven by a woman in her 40s, which looks like the rear suspension has collapsed. It also has chrome wheels. It is genuinely amusing to watch it bouncing down the road.

Now this is a new way of seeing it never thought of seeing styling cars in this way as an art form.
good to see a lot of conversation regarding this. Here in Sweden again might be my town only, People have loads of cars that are lowered this way. Mostly young adults that drives Volvo 740s, 850, 940 or equal car have a tendency to cut the springs. And drop the car like mad. Then show up on those event now everyone is welcome at those events but i have spoken to a lot of those people and there usual answer is "Because its fun" i guess thats an adequate answer as any other. But again makes me wonder. Quote:

I Understand the performance wise part. But then again for me if i were to lower my car to certain point just to have an small gap or even no gap, I would pretty much tear my car apart unless i was on a race track witch is usually a nice flat asphalt surface compared to the roads in the real world where pot holes tears apart huge trucks at least in our country cant imagine what it would do to cars lowered like that. |

![]() For example this car is on front site of one of the biggest swedish car comunity sites. I have talked to this owner about it and he said well that he did it for the show factor. and people agreed with him that it looks good and i qouate him " People tell me this is how cars are supose to be made" now im no fool i know that all he said is probably not truth. but a bit "truth with a bit modification" But still intressting none the less . |
