Quotes for wrapping roof gloss black?

I have been looking around in the Houston area getting quotes to wrap the roof of my AW 235 gloss black, and most people want $500+ out the door. Is it just me or does this seem high? Anyone done this before?

Are these prices you guys are saying including the cost of the vinyl? I ordered a huge piece of 3m 1080 gloss black a few months ago planning to diy, but now I think I am going to have it done professionally as I want it to be perfect and really don't enjoy vinyl wrapping. The only shop I have contacted so far said it would be under $200 if I supplied the vinyl, but would have to see the car first to give a final price.

How much vinyl did you buy? And where did you get it from?

I'm sorry I can't remember the exact size of the vinyl I bought, but I measured the roof of the car and bought about 2.5x that. The sheet I bought was approximately 5ftx10ft. It is the 3M 1080 in gloss black and I paid $120.

I purchased it on ebay from seller "autovinylsolutions". Here is a link to his webpage:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/autovinylsol...72.m2749.l2754

He has very good reviews. You can just click on one of his for sale ads and then it will let you choose from many different sizes depending on your needs. I had a positive transaction with him; good price and very quick shipping.

LOL! Man I completely agree! I actually had a friend over and we were about to do the roof. He went inside to grab a beer, and while he was in there I wrapped one of the rear reflectors just to see what it looked like. In the three minutes it took me to do that reflector I lost all motivation! When he came outside I told him I was done, peeled off the vinyl, and went in and started taking shots! Its just such a damn tedious job, and very stressful as I want it to be perfect.

LMAO Yea I agree. That is just not a skill i possess! I had a similar experience with my E92 interior trim and I suffered through it for hours. It looked ok but I'll never be doing that again!

Had mine done in 3M 1080 gloss black for $250 Canadian out the door. Incredibly high quality job. They clayed the roof, took off the rails, wrapped everything including the antenna with no bubbles.

Heyo, i know this is pretty irrelevant, but i got mine wrapped with Orafol Gloss Black that is used for marine applications (its a bit thicker but more durable) for 150euros in Greece.

200$ doesnt seem too far off...

just my 2 cents

Not quite ... Buy a house down here.

"State income tax? We don't need no stinkin' state income tax!"

But seriously ... I vote for painting unless you want the rails and antenna wrapped as well. The only way that look works well is if the rails and shark fin are done as well as the roof panel.
