Ready to pull trigger and order, quick check.
I'm finally ready to place the order for my e90 today and just looking for any other thoughts or suggestions. It will be a 330i jet black, black interior, burl with premium, sport, cold weather, Sirius, shades, comfort access. The MSRP is $43,765, invoice is $40,065 with a $3700 difference. The best I've been able to do with out a major battle with dealers has been $1500 over invoice.
I realize some are getting $500 to $800 over but that seems pretty impossible in Michigan with a straight buy (no money to be made by the dealer for a lease, financing or trade). My local dealer has been by far the worst to negotiate with on the deal. The try every old school car sales trick in the book. However, I do understand from others the service department is pretty decent and they are right behind my office. Therefore, I am planning on ordering from them. I still haven't discussed floor mats but doubt they will eat the cost at this point in the game. Might try to see if they will do them at cost since I want both the carpet and the rubber ones for winter. I would guess their margin is about 50% on these. Any other last minute thoughts or suggestions appreciated. |

YA, they wont move much at all on price. They know they can sell all of them eventually right? But you should definetly be able to get floor mats, and a trickle charger for your battery thrown in. Because the car doesnt come with a Block heater, they have been installing the battery Trickle charger on the cars. Definetly go for the floor mats and the Trickle Charger, and at least a touch up pen, hat, key chain. They should do all that for you, if they dont.... walk, and come back in a day or two and start all over. good Luck

I guess I don't understand something here................
Is it a crime for a dealer to make some PROFIT ? I mean -- isn't that why one is in business? Lighten up guys -- Let your salesperson make a living for chrissake ! He will treat you with the priority your believe you deserve !

MARGIN --
Unless a dealer is bumping prices or "market Adjusting" almost without exception the mark up for the dealer on all things BMW is about 8% NOTHING is 50% markup . If that was the case -- your mats would be close to 200.00 ! BTW - the more you grind -- the less your salesman will be inclined to throw in the mats, hat, tshirt etc. .....

Regarding margins, I don't think dealer accessories such as floor mats are 8% the same as a new vehicle and factory options. Finally, comfort access is a must. I'm in and out of my vehicle many times each day and it would be great to not deal with keys anymore. |

i don't know about michigan but it seems like most people here in so cal end up paying about 1000-1500 above invoice. i got my car in Aug and negotiated to 1400 above invoice including floormats. in the end the salesman screwed up the numbers by 1K and i ended up paying 400 above invoice. the fact that they let me take it for 400 above invoice says something about how low they are willing to go...

2. Yes. They will be making profit as long as they sell the car at a comfortable price. Its matter of "how much money" they are trying to make out of us customers. We are smart customers, we aren't about to give them extra $$$$ so they can be rich asses while we are broke. Simple, isn't it? Bob T, try to negotiate a little more. I paid about $1500 more over invoice, but that was back in august 2005, when E90 owners were all paying that much. If it doesn't work out, try to buy it from somewhere else and get it delievered.

Again, which dealership in Michigan are you getting your numbers from? I paid more ($1000 off sticker), but then again, I bought in May. My dealer has been excellent and top-notch in every respect, including service.

I ended up ordering last night from my local dealer, Lansing Imports. After the getting through the price negotiations, everything has been fine. I did not end up getting mats out of the deal. However, they have been decent with the whole transaction. Now the wait begins... |
