Went on a Carnival Cruise about 10 years ago. I had a blast, although I was very young. It's pretty much like an ultra-luxe hotel outside your room. Depending on how much you paid, I'm not sure how small your room will be or if you'll have a porthole. There's pools, fun contests, gaming rooms, bars, etc. Just everything you could imagine being crammed onto a boat it's there. Have fun!

Get a room with a 'porch', if you can; the area is small, big enough for a couple of chairs, but very enjoyable, particularly if you and your wife/significant other/friend have different sleeping habits.
If you have no expectations, you will enjoy it tremendously; all in the attitude. ![]() It's been many years since I've been on a cruise, but if I recall, you need to get in line and sign up for excursions/activities as soon as you board. Check out the list in advance. But even if you don't get off the ship, you'll have a blast. |

i took a cruise to cayman islands and jamaica with carnaval.
that was my first and last time with carnaval. i guess you get what you pay for. they're the cheapest. the ship i was on could use some renovation. the people on board were kinda ghetto. the food was pretty good though.

2 Cruises with Royal Caribbean, Turns out the Caribbean pretty much sucks though, at least the places the cruise ships take you. The Bahamas blew, you'd be much better served heading to Mexico or one of the other Caribbean destinations.
Though having a cool room is awesome cause living inside a floating Ghetto Mall/Casino gets old fast, patio was fun and although the dinning rooms close at specific times, room service is 24 hours and Royal Caribbean's food wasn't bad... So Yeah I'll go again when I am old, but in the meantime you'll not find me anywhere near a cruise ship, freaking geriatric festivals, and pre-planned, pre-packaged field trip like experiences, sucked a lot...

My parents went on Celebrity cruises and they said it was awesome. Celebrity was ranked #1 by Condé Nast for 2008 rankings.

Chris335i, just to let you know, going on a cruise ship is like going to a very large senior home party. Lots of senior citizens and old folks on scooters. Lots of seriously overweight people too. Since you're from Florida, expect almost all passengers on board to be oldies.

celebrity, princess, holland america, and crystal cruises get my votes.
the only con about holland america and crystal though, is that majority of the people are old ![]() at least with the others, there arent as much but there still are a lot. theres also a lot of careless parents that let their children run around like slaves being freed, so watch out for that. |

Royal carribean i think is better. i never been on a carnival cruise, but from what my friends tell me from their experiences, RC FTW.
just, the thing is, the rooms.... they suck. all of them. no matter which one u get. i had the best room on the RC Monarch of the Seas, and man, what a shit hole. it felt like a run down marriot. but aside from that, everything else was great!

If you're on a budget, RCI is better than Carnival while still being somewhat young. I've heard there are a lot more young ppl on Carnival b/c of the pricing and stuff. That might be a good thing or a bad thing (crazy stories abt ppl f'in in the hot tubs and drunks running around...not my scene). When I went on RCI it was fun and not too many old ppl running around. I think the higher priced ones wouldn't have that many young ppl like Holland and Celebrity. I think cruisecritic.com is a good place to find out about particular ships etc.

Friends group cruise = Carnival Cruise ...most are young and don't wanna spend extra... although it doesn't mean you cant have as much fun as on a Royal Carib. |
