Take it now or wait?

So I had my engine light come on in my 2011 328 with 30 00 miles last week. After 4 starts engine light went off and never came back on until today , so I m getting ready for taking the car in tomorrow , again after 4 starts the engine light went off again!... Both times the engine light came on only when I started the car, it has not come on while driving.

The car drives normal , no loss of power or anything , gas consumption stlll the same. The only problem is the car has the AA tune and I m pretty sure it is a sensor going bad. The dealer would probably replace the sensor going bad ( O2 sensor probably) , I was wondering if the dealers usually reload the computer software after replacing a sensor? would they delete the AA tune ?

It's really unlikely they'll reflash the DME unless a new rev is called for and even then it won't overwrite that space. I know, btdt.

thanks pete. So even if they reflash the DME the tune will not be overwrite? .. I always thought flashing the DME would for sure ruin the AA tune . Could you elaborate on this>??

It wouldn't ruin it, it would just get rid of the tune and you'd have to reflash it.

Won't mess with the tune as the DME is updated rather than completely reflashed to factory which would be unusual. The DME in my car was updated without me knowing it leaving the offroad tune intact complete with CEL. Couldn't upload the new tune that took care of that because of the rev change. Had to reset the Simon tool, reread the DME, send the file in, get a new set of tune files back, and then upload the new tune. No problem.

actually, if they update the DME it overwrites everything. the space that WinKFP writes to is the same as what you'd do with an OFT or an AA flasher.

I'd imagine you should be able to reload your tune with some help from AA if that happened though.

Yeah, that's the weird thing, they flashed the DME in my car but the tune was unaffected. I have no explanation...

I should correct this by saying I didn't notice a change and it could have very well have removed the tune. If I wasn't pushing the car before uploading a new tune it very well may have been overwritten
