Oschersleben (DE), 12th September 2015. Timo Glock (DE) claimed the second victory of his DTM career in race 13 of the season in Oschersleben (DE). At the end of the 28-lap race, the BMW Team MTEK driver in the DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM crossed the finish line 1.876 seconds ahead of team-mate Bruno Spengler (CA, BMW Bank M4 DTM). Glock led from start to finish, having secured pole position for the first time since making his debut in the DTM. His first DTM victory came in the final race of the 2013 season in Hockenheim (DE).

The victory was BMW’s 67th in the DTM, while BMW Team MTEK and its principal Ernest Knoors (NL) celebrated the first one-two in the team’s history. António Félix da Costa (PT) joined Glock and Spengler on the podium, finishing on the bottom step of the podium for the third time this season in the Red Bull BMW M4 DTM. Augusto Farfus (BR, Shell BMW M4 DTM) completed the top-four lock-out for BMW at the “Motorsport Arena”.

Marco Wittmann (DE, Ice-Watch BMW M4 DTM), Tom Blomqvist (GB, BMW M4 DTM) and Martin Tomczyk (DE, BMW M Performance Parts M4 DTM) also picked up points in sixth, seventh and eighth. Maxime Martin (BE, SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM) crossed the line eleventh to narrowly miss out on a place in the top ten.
Reactions to the 13th race of the 2015 DTM season.

Jens Marquardt (BMW Motorsport Director): “This is a fantastic result for us. We were very strong when we tested here, and were able to underline that strength today. Timo Glock produced a great, flawless race to claim his second victory in the DTM. He was unbeatable today. Bruno Spengler, António Félix da Costa and Augusto Farfus also performed strongly to finish in second to fourth places. This was the first one-two for BMW Team MTEK and all four BMW teams had drivers in the top six. A further three BMWs in the top ten round off a dream result for us – and in front packed stands. We don’t have much time to celebrate today. We are back in business tomorrow and hope to achieve a similar result.”

Timo Glock (BMW Team MTEK, 1st): “This victory feels fantastic. It was hugely enjoyable to drive the car today. However, I had to push in the race. I wanted to get out of the DRS window as soon as possible, to avoid the threat posed by my team-mate Bruno Spengler. I fought like a lion all race and was rewarded with my second DTM win. I am pleased for my team that our work has finally paid off and we even managed a one-two. The guys deserved that.”

Facts and Figures.

Useful information:
The safety car took to the track for four laps after a collision in the first corner. Timo Glock had made a good start and was leading at that point, followed by António Félix da Costa, Bruno Spengler and Augusto Farfus.

Just one lap later, the safety car was back in action again, after Robert Wickens lost the bonnet of his car. By that point, Spengler had climbed into second place behind his BMW Team MTEK team-mate Glock.

Glock followed up his maiden pole position with the second victory of his DTM career. Spengler was runner-up for the second time this season, thus equalling his best result of the year and completing the first one-two for BMW Team MTEK in the DTM. In total, Spengler has made five appearances on the podium in 2015.
Second place in Saturday’s race means Spengler now has 103 points in the Drivers’ Championship. He closed the gap to championship leader Pascal Wehrlein (DE, Mercedes) to 27 points.

Seven BMW M4 DTMs finished in the points for the second time this season, having previously achieved this feat with a top-seven shut-out in Zandvoort (NL).

The second qualifying session begins at 11.35 on Sunday. Before that, the 15-minute warm-up is scheduled for 9.00.

Hard season but it is not over yet

Good result. They have had a tough year with the competition but 2 remaining race weekends they have reasonable chances for the driver's trophy and a good chance if they maintain strength in the manufacturer cup.

Let's hope they continue strong.

We're the lightest cars on the circuit, but we go well there anyway. WIT should have passed WER IMHO, but cannot understand why he needed the points. A lot of mumbling on why Glock didn't ler Spengler, the top BMW driver and the only person with a chance of retaining the title though, but he's had a torrid season and also just wanted to win something. Surely a strong result puts him where he needs to be.

That's qualifying and race 2.
