The Miata driver is one hell of a driver. Am I the only one who thought the Porsche driver was an ass!

Koenigsegg's current test driver, former pro racer, great driver and not your usual tourist.

Porsches, BMWs and especially Corvettes the world over can't believe it when they have to point by a Miata, it just takes a few extra corners for it to sink in.

They get laughed at here but anyone who spends serious time at the track knows what fun little weapons they are with mods that are pocket change compared the ones on this board.

He is one hell of a driver, not a fair comparison. Then again why are people buying cars they cannot even fully enjoy

As an enthusiast not a true race driver, if i could afford a gt3 I would be tempted to track it a few times before i invested in a dedicated track miata

The same reason why people ask these kind of questions.

Best mod is the "driver mod". The Porsche driver needs more HPDE. The Miata driver was just a better driver.

i just re-watched a miata tailing a cayman for several laps in the continental tire sportscar challenge. i thought the miata was going to take the cayman more than once. it was very close.

Wait, how close to stock is that Miata? I know they are great little cars, but he honestly didn't lose much in the straights for only having what, like 180hp? If that car is bone stock or close to it that's incredible.

That's a well-driven MX5 Cup car...hardly comparable to a stock Miata.

And yes, the GT3 driven was an asshat, on multiple occasions.

Not a stock car, but pretty standard looking mods to me. It's not like he's putting down 400 hp. Don't know what the Cup cars make

From the video description:
This is a lap in my Mazda MX-5 NC 2,0 Sport Roadster Coupé.

Modifications:
- ECU Remap
- Exhaust and a CAI
- 225/45 16 track tyres, road legal.
- Coilovers with 10/7 Springs
- Mazda RX-8 ARB f/r
- Uprated Brake Pads and fluid
- Carbon fibre seat
- Aftermarket Steering wheel
- Approx 1175kg incl ½tank and driver.

i think the miata is around 500 lbs lighter than even the cayman (i'm not sure the gt3 off the top of my head) and there are tons more mods available. even with that said, i believe it was driver issues in this case.

on a side note, look at all the kits for miata's. they make great donor cars to make crazy stuff like the exocet. if you haven't seen one of those check out their site.

Guy in the GT3 can't drive. In other words, par for the course at a track day.

GT3 was a decent driver. Unfortunately, he was up against a pro (Robert Serwanski) in a very capable Miata.

And he's probably not pushing anywhere near as hard either. Anyone can take a $5k car out and drive it at 10/10ths of their ability without worrying too much about what happens if they screw up, not many people can afford to do the same with a $100k car.
