How did you modify it? I think I have the same jack stands, I don't see a difference.

Use a lift and the jack pads (BMW calls them lift points) and they make perfect engineering sense. Most people here use an axle stand, which is not the right tool. Get the correct stands and no modification os necessary. Kinda like taking a 10MM wrench and grinding the flats down to make it a 12MM...

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

LOL...thanks for the laugh. BMW left a freakin broken valve cover/head bolt after snapping it.

I have a lift. When lifted, the car sits canted rearwards a slight bit; it's not perfectly level. I use an under-hoist stand at the diff (think giant 3-point jackstand with an ACME screw thread on top) to level the car, and more oil drains out of the pan.

I'd think the clearance problem would even be bigger with 17s or 18s. |

I have an engineered solution for those of us that can't install a lift in our garages. See pics please. The nice thing is the rectangular block is on top of a spherical joint. This is so that the block can rotate while opposite end of car is being raised or lowered. Shop Reverse Logic to get these stands and special inserts. I have no affiliation with these company other than buying the 4 stands and posts. Fred is a great guy to work with.
