My We Buy Any Car Experience:
Due to BMW offering me a stupidly low amount in part-exchange even when buying a £40K car, and not wanting to advertise and have boy-racers turning up at my house, I decided to try We Buy Any Car (Milton Keynes).
I did the on-line quote process, and was surprised at the price, obviously lower that I could have got privately, but £2500 more than BMW were offering. Now having read all the moans and horror stories on the internet about WBAC, that some people were offered up to £2000 less than their on-line quote, etc. I went ready for a fight, and/or to walk away and sell it privately. The condition check of my car consisted of: Started the car, drove it forward 1 metre, reversed it 1 metre (no actual test drive). A quick glance around the inside. 5 second look around the engine bay. Checked tyre tread depth. Checked paint depth with gauge. Walked around it twice. We then returned to the office, where he offered me exactly the on-line price, less the admin fee & next day bank transfer fee (which I requested), both of these I was aware of and expecting. So, for me it was a surprisingly pleasant experience, with none of the expected dramas. Admittedly my car was in very good condition and well presented. All I can assume is that those who moan about not getting the quoted price, must turn up in sheds with a "kerb-side motors", or " my mate did it", service histories and a dent/scratch on every panel. Maybe I got lucky, and maybe all branches are not the same. Hope this helps someone. |

I've heard of a number of people getting exactly what they were offered.
Some people are just unrealistic on the condition of their car. There isn't just WBAC offering a car buying service. There is lots of other companies and even dealers buying cars. Doesn't Evans Halshaw say they'll beat any WBAC car? |

Patience, don't pick it up until Monday, and it will be dark then and dirty.
Here is one from the seller's advert. |

How much less do you think you got than by going privately?
I can understand liking the convenience of not selling privately but you probably pay a lot for that. You get shafted. Nice M3 though! Enjoy

Not many absolutely stock 335 M-Sports advertised to get a good idea. But as WBAC only quoted for a stock car, that is what they got. Rather have piece of mind than an extra bit of cash |

Congrats on the new car, stunning M3!
Suppose on the WBAC thing, it just depends on your cars condition. My Dad took his company car to them to get rid on behalf of the company he works for and they knocked him down on a couple of things, Odd dint's, slightly kerb'd wheels and low Tyre tread. Seems silly how they drive it all of 1m and don't even properley 'Road test' it! |

When it came to parting with my Audi A3 2.0T 2007 DSG S-Line 3 door.. With 60k miles...
BMW could offer no more than £5600 as it went to trade. No test drive or check. Keys, history and manuals, MOTS required and that was it. The dealer said it wasn't their problem when it came to faults so I kept quiet. If I sold private then I knew I would not have a clear conscience because it had more than 5000 of work to be done. Mechatronic shot, a/c compressor shot, turbo on last legs... Required new Pistons to name but a few. The we buy any car quote? £2600. I told them about the extras the car had. Excellent body work, paint, no road rash or chips, wheels mint... Loved and looked after example but they couldn't offer me more. It was the book price according to them and I tried to get them to reconsider but it was a no go! May be I'd get a better figure on my BMW... I will have to try for a laugh. |
