Talk to me about e85 and 112 octane

Hey guys, n55 jb4 map5 (will do the 3WOT Runs) cp, dp, and fmic. I'm looking to race my friend and want to smoke his 5.0. Am I better off with 93 octane plus 3 gallons of 112 or 3 gallons of e85? Is e85 (really like e20) safe to use once a month if I only use 3 gallons for a full tank? What're the negatives because my friends telling me I'll ruin my injectors! Thanks

Why is your e85 really e20?

And no you won't ruin your injectors. I had been running full e85 for over 10k miles and atleast an e30-40 blend for another 40k miles with no issue

On stock Fuelpump? I'm at 65K and a little worried
I had 10g e90 and 2.8g e85 ran it hard on the highway for an hour and no issues.. Slightly longer startup the next few times I started the engine? I might move up to 4g. I hit 16.5 max I was expecting more

I would do it slowly. Like 1 gallon e85 drive 100 miles then 2. Ethanol is a good solvent. So it will put any impurities in suspension. Your good to run e30 without a tune. I use e85 stabilizer and fuel injector cleaner once in a while no issues.

Just don't let e85 sit in your car unused for more than 2 weeks. Ethanol attracts water.

If your really want to smoke him run e50 with Bms backend flash for e85. Oops you'll need a stage ii lpfp upgrade.

Put in 4 gal e85 and the rest 93...don't worry you'll be fine. Hope you smoke him.

You may want to do more reading on phase seperation and ethanol.

The higher the E content the less likely it is to separate.

I've left E in my tank and gas cans for 5 months before without any ill effects.

Seriously people need to stop worrying about running e85... There are people who have been running it in their N54 for >50k miles, myself included (E60)

Throw 4 gallons of E85 in there and make a custom map 6 with 18psi peak targets, and load the race backend flash and you'll "smoke" him.

He has an N55 so no race BEF. You can put in 5 gal E85 and the rest 93. Use map 7 and you should beat him just fine. Make sure your FOL is 70-80, and that you log to make sure everything is fine.

I dont have flex fuel wires, will i survive. Also, any ideas on what would cause rough idle(at park or at a red light) usually after driving hard? RPM drops to 400 and car shutters, the rises to 1000ish

If he can drive and you are racing from a dig he should easily take you off the line. These cars don't hook well.

could be running too much e85 for the stock flash and no ff wires, if you are running e.

If he can drive, and takes you off the line, the race is over. Sorry to say, but your JB4 335 will not hang with a Coyote 5.0 for long....
