Another smart key problem with CA
Helo all, I have a 08 335xi with comfort access and my key fob has given me nothing but issues for a while. First I just wanna say I know there are lots of posts similar to this and ive checked 98% of them.
The problem started as the fob didnt lock/unlock the car, decided to replace the battery and YAY it works and all the CA features were working great. But about a week later it stopped working again changed the battery with my other fob (that was not working) and the original fob started to work again? (i was confused but happy) a day later im writing this because its all back to where I started and neither fobs work. I heard that the battery should be changed after atleast a couple of months? (correct me if im wrong) but mine only made it for not even a week. Can anyone offer ANY kind of help? Also if youre wondering im out of warranty. A very stressed BMW owner. EDIT: Ive checked the antenna module and there seems to no sign of corrosion and all wires are intact.

Fob battery, when needing to be replaced, should cause a dash symbol to be displayed (looks like AA battery symbol along with a key)
Changing the battery 'every few months' is not a need. I have had my CA car for two years, and only once replaced the fob battery (about 3 months into my ownership) Last edited by Wilt; 11-02-2015 at 11:39 PM.. |

I should last a few years.
Tints can block radio waves. A low main car battery is not good either. Are you sure the new battery you got for the fob are good. If you have a voltmeter you can check how good the battery's are. Last edited by ctuna; 11-03-2015 at 01:48 AM.. |

Definitely not the tints since it worked perfect for about a week. Then I had to press the button about 10 times for it to unlock and a day after that it was completely dead

This just happened to me, one of my keys was not locking/unlocking doors, I reprogrammed it by putting it in ignition started car, stopped car, took it out of ignition, then repeated the step, I have comfort access, this worked for me, hope it does for you.

So you basically start and turn off the car twice?
