warning:K+DCAN cable buying experience
I must say I am also a fan of the ‘One Stop Electronics’ cable. I had purchased a cheap K+DCan cable(there are even cheaper ones now!) years ago and it was ‘dead on arrival’ but I did not realize it until like 2 weeks of mind frazzling trouble shooting (a big freakin’ waste of time).*
in fact, all seems good from the pcb. The internal PCB looks nice and tidy, but again, this was 'Dead On Arrival'. The main FTDI chip's SMT job was also sloppy. Actually the*FTDI*chip's plastic housing has been partially melted, due to heat from soldering the horribly placed LED pins right up against the main processor. to read carefully, the dirty solder job(on the left PCB where the OBD pins are soldered). Turned out 2 OBD pins were NOT soldered properly to their base PCB and were detached. then no way... buy another K+DCAN. big diffeence... you see the PCB. Very fine work, bridged soldering of 2 pins is intentional. the K+DCAN site i used: http://www.obdtool.co.uk/wholesale/b...can-cable.html hope this helps anyone in need of Inpa cable Last edited by lalaura; 03-28-2016 at 08:49 PM.. |

I have that last one in green, Cheapo from china. Looks well made. It accepts Dcan utility to change to can mode, but just wont work afterwards. Error IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLUNIT. Win XP and WIN 7 installs, different driver all installed on both laptops witout a hitch. OBD.ini points to correct com port. I'm buying another from a UK source to see. Then i'll harass Aliexpress for a refund.

Man I was having trouble with one and it has a switch for 07 then 08+. Going back and forth with the seller. Then I thought logically, how does ediabas know what com port was assigned? Changed the ini and worked like a charm.

Just got delivery of my new cable. White board. Worked on my old xp laptop, reset the dreaded steering lock fault. Ediabas reads the port from obd.ini, in ediabas/ bin and file has to be in Windows directory also (WinNT on my Xp machine). No success on my win7 laptop, I think the problem is com1 is reserved from the previous cable, and though I assigned com1 to the new cable ( it defaulted to 4), when ediabas tries to connect Inpa I'm getting a K- something ID error. I'll sort it later as the panic is over, steering fault reset, for the moment anyway.
