Help! My car is still riding terrible!
Hey guys I'm sorry I'm back again haha but I'm still having issues and it's killing me...
Main issues: - Car pulls both directions whenever the road is barely uneven. This causes me to have to hold the wheel hard during turns because if it hits a bump, the car feels like it shifts off the ground and the direction has a mind of its own. - Car's ride is rough, feel EVERY bump. - Car vibrates at high speeds, >60 and gradually gets worse. - When going over potholes or drain covers in the road, there is a metal knock sound that comes and it sounds as if your cars upper shock mount is hitting the metal..... Things I have done to attempt to fix the issue: (fixed it all myself) - New TRW M3 front upper and lower control arms - New BMW tie rods - New BMW upper shock mounts - New BIlstein B4 front struts - New Enkei wheels and Sumotomo tires - Alignment done at both BMW and Firestone in a span of 3 months. What could it be? I read that it may be the wheel bearings or the driveshaft is out of balance or out of phase? I need some serious suggestions. I am a college student and I can't keep wasting money. I Love this car and I just want to have a normal soft ride. |

It all started when you changed your tires and wheels ?
You seem to describe what tramlining is ! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=47 The most common cause is tires... If your Sumotomo are stiff sidewall sports low profile tires then it could be the cause. Can you put back the original set for a test ? Good luck |

Tires My junk runflats up front had gotten horrible. The car was trying to kill me on the highway. Swapped the fronts and its like I have a completely different car. |

No it started before I changed anything! I needed new tires anyways and so when I bought the car the rims were a little banged up so I thought my vibration and unevenness was from a bent rim so thats why I changed the rims and tires at the same time. I was having the same issues before I put on the sumotomo tires!

Sumitomos? Never heard of them.
Why not try tires like Michelins or Continentals like everyone else? There is a reason BMW uses them on their cars. |

What sizes are your new Sumitomos?
Next step would be to perform this easy test (start to watch at 0:15) : [u2b]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKk33w86OSI[/u2b] Of course it is a Ford pick-up in there but the same applies to your 335. Make sure you can't feel any looseness at 9 & 3 O'clock AND 12 & 6 O'clock. In addition, what I like to do is lifting the wheel about 6 inches off the ground and pry it up and down with a 5-6 foot long 2X4 underneath and listen carefully for any noise. |
