For a second I thought you were posting about seeing oil on your spark plugs, lol
Use BMW oil and Bosch (OEM) spark plugs. They both are about the best you can get and in my opinion, there's minimal performance difference by switching unless you're making lots of power. They have worked the best for me for several years, and of course without issue since the oil and spark plugs match OEM. |

OEM Plugs: Bosch ZGR6STE2, get them online rather than the dealer.
BMW oil is fine, but Mobil 1 0W-40 is much cheaper, usually $20-$25 at WalMart.

I have similar mods and concur with NGK 5992 (now 95770). For oil, anything BMW LL01 rated will work just fine. Anything more specific is down to personal preference. I've always used Mobil 1 0w40 from Wally World because it's super cheap ($25 for 5 qts). I get multi-packs of BMW OEM filters online, which come with the associated o-rings and drain plug crush washers.

I use these for my oil changes, the company that makes the filters for BMW. This Castrol is BMW LL-01 approved.

NGK 5992 plugs gapped to 0.022" and Liqui Moly 5W40 oil. If you haven't yet, run a thing of Ceratec through as well.

I was gonna say this exactly! IMHO you want a locking extension when you do the plugs so the socket doesn't fall off. The #5 plug needs a shorter extension....at the time I only had a 13" one, but now I have a set.... I used MANN filters but with the production going to Mexico I get Mahle and Hengst now. I like the look and construction of the Hengst. |
