Paddleshift wheel wiring

Morning all.

Getting very tempted to upgrade to a paddleshift wheel.

Ideally I would like a DCT wheel, but can't really justify the extra spend. Ive heard that some people have re-wired the standard wheel so that the push function is inactive and only the pull works like the DCT.

I was wondering if it is possible to wire the standard paddleshift wheel so that:
Push & pull on the left shifts down
Push & pull on the right shifts up

Thanks
David

I think it's done via coding I'm sure someone will be able to give more detail

Having had a look at the following image:

I thought it might have been possible by:

Both cables (red and Blue) on the left paddle connected to one blank port on the multi-switch connector.
Both cables on the right paddle connected to the other blank port on the multi-switch connector.

Anyone know if that would work??

It's a while since I've played with mine (!), but that should work with the "ear" type paddle. It will NOT work with the later pull-only paddles from 2010-on.
The early "ear" type just have discrete switches in them, the later type have circuitry integrated into the paddle - the fixing to the wheel is different too, but it can be modified if you get a late wheel.
