Led Headlights W.extended Features (5A4)
My X1 is being built with above option it will be Right hand drive, not having had Led headlights before my question is this. How do you change them for driving abroad i.e driving on the right hand side? Or do they not need adjusting. My current Audi has Xenons and I go into the system and change by ticking box for driving on the opposite side of the road.

The UK manual now appears on my log on screen on the BMW UK site, it states the following:
Left-hand/right-hand traffic General When driving in countries where the opposite rule of the road applies, you need to prevent your headlights from dazzling oncoming vehicles. LED headlights Light distribution of the headlights avoids dazzling of the low-beam headlights when driving in a country in which the traffic drives on the opposite side. Variable light distribution When driving in a country where you drive on the opposite side of the road from the country the vehicle is licensed, do not drive with thesetting, otherwise this could cause a dazzling effect from the variable light distribution. |

I can't answer your question specifically but...
My New Vehicle Contract from dealers shows '5A4 Adaptive LED Headlights'. The VIN Decoder shows '5A4 Led Headlights W. extended Features'. If it does include the above, things just keep getting better!! |

Our loaner X1 has the LEDs with extended features and to be honest I can't make out other than cornering lights what the extended features actually do. I have noticed that auto high beam (ILS) is not listed as an option in the UK, but I have seen the switch for it both in the Manual posted on here and in some of the interior photos I have seen.
The ILS is wonderful btw love it on my M235i.

Hey alex4nder, F48's LED headlights are not that "intelligent" unfortunately. It's only auto high beam/low beam + cornering light, similar 1 and 2 Series. The "adaptive" feature of it is similar to regular HID headlights. So... long story short, your light bulbs are LED. That's about it. Easiest way to distinguish the basic and more sophisticated LED headlights is to look for a horizontal bar in the middle of the rings.
washy, ILS is standard if you have LED headlights. It works like a charm and is super responsive. Last edited by KPD; 12-11-2015 at 05:55 AM.. |

Interesting to know.
I think this car is a a funny spec as it is a dealer launch car and seems to have things missing that it should have.

Similarly specced 3 Series with the same base price and engine will costs more because most of its features will be optional (HUD for example: part of Navigation Plus in X1, but an expensive individual option in 3 Series). Of course, more standard features means some of them will be less sophisticated compared to more expensive models. I personally like their new packaged method. It's very similar to the Japanese and Korean cars. You get your features in trim levels and packages instead of a long list of individual options. |

I meant the particular car we have at the mo. It has an odd spec on it.
Overall I agree the X1 has its options and packs about spot on.

Headlights
Just checked mine and whilst they are LED adaptive (std on Xline) they do not have high beam assist (ILS) (which I always thought would be the case) though the thread got me thinking.... perhaps there is an extra I haven't yet discovered..... ah well. 1090 miles on the clock ...nearly run in.

Our loaner has the LEDs, but does not have that switch on the stalk. It is also unusual in that it has some of the driver assistance pack, but not the lane change warning.

Interesting that KPD and Washy, I do not have that ...just a single button on the indicator stalk which operates/resets the on board computer/messages/menu. Mine was a pre registered, launch car (option 999 I noticed, on the spec sheet) so perhaps I lucked out on that !
(To be fair I did get instant availabilty and about quite a few ŁK off list so don't feel too unlucky. It only had 200 miles on the clock) Just a thought but ....I do not have any of the camera based options such as sign recognition/active cruise control etc so possibly don't get full "extended LED" functionality ? |

The one we have does have the speed limit display and the anti collision stuff, but no high beam assist or lane departure. That too has option 999

Collusion mitigation thing is part of "Active Guard", standard in all trims even in the base SE.
Driving Assist adds lane departure, etc. Assist Plus adds ACC and traffic assist to that. |

Active guard went off the other day for the first time - forgot it was part of the spec (even for non camera option cars)...chime and a big red car flashed up on the dashboard...thought the X1 was going into a catastrophic break down !
It was just triggered by me approaching the rear of a parked van a little briskly. Doh! Sorry just realised I've gone "off thread" |
