Rear ended today

Way to start the year. I was at a red light and this jeep rear ends me. Nothing big but there is two small cracks on rear bumper. Guy tried to play funny saying he did not hit me , then he said the damage was minor and I can drive the car like that. I got pretty upset and told him I m calling the police.

Short story long , after a while I got his insurance information. Needless to say I m going through my insurance, since it is not my fault it won't go on my record

Question is , should I upgrade to Mtech rear bumper??

I called the dealer today and I got a question , does the mtec rear bumper come with the diffuser or is that a separate piece. Dealer says it is a seperate piece

It actually depends where you buy it from because it could be sold as a package. But if you're going by oem part no.'s, then yes they are separate pieces.

damn BMW. So if I have a mtech rear bumper with not diffuser I would have a hole in the middle?

Got a 2014 X1 rental while my car is at the shop to get the appraisal approved by the insurance

First thing I did was check the specs online ,automatic, 4 cylinder turbocharged , 240 hp , 260 tq , 0-60 in 6 seconds flat. I was curious to know how it would compared to my 328xi

On paper this car is faster than what I have now . But man oh man , was I wrong. This car drove so bad that I would rather drive a civic as a rental. The acceleration is horrible , the car feels like it has no power. I stepped on the gas hard and it starts to move at around 3000 rpm but is a very sluggish type of acceleration . The car gets to a 60 MPH quick but it just feels like it struggles to get there, it is a weird feeling. Acceleration below 3000 rpm is really bad and the engine sounds horrible , worst part is the car loves to drive under 2000rpm , I found myself in the 1500 -2000 rpm all the time and this is where the car performs very poorly

I waited until I got to the country side roads ( on my way home) and put the car on sports mode to see if it got better. While the car got a little bit better , it was still really bad on acceleration ,.

If the new turbocharge 4 cylinder 328 is anything like it , I rather keep what I have . It may be faster if I keep my foot fully press on the gas pedal but the inline 6 cylinder on my 328 is 100 times smoother and it actually feels faster..

Sorry I m venting , but all I kept thinking on my way home while driving the X1 is how shitty it felt and how far it was from being a bmw performance machine

When I first bought my car, I had to bring it back to the shop for some little add-ons and got one of these as well. I absolutely hated it. It was early March and there was a little snow on the road and I actually found that my 328xi with high-performance summer tires was better in the snow than the X1 SUV with winters on it. I'd never suggest for anyone to buy one. On the contrary, later when I had been in an accident, I got a newish X3 and that thing is a wonderful beast. Definitely worth every extra penny.

I need some help. Bodyshop says bmw does not make a mtech rear bumper for e90 LCI 328 awd. They can get me a 335 rear bumper but it will have the dual exhaust cut out

Can anyone help me get a bmw part number .

Glad I could help.

Also, your bumper is totally fixable. You can do it yourself if you want to. Since it's low stress point, it shouldn't crack. And since you have silver car, you can blend it easily.

It's white and I want the mtech bumper upgrade. Plus insurance will cover and since I was not at fault my premiums stay the same

So it seems like my insurance wants aftermarket OEM so they call it instead of OEM from the dealer. Price is cheaper. Anyways long story short, bodyshop has an aftermarket part dealer and the can not find the part number I sent them . The only thing they have is the 335 mtec bumper.
