I've tried searching but can't seem to find if the 328i 6 speed trans is the same as a 335i trans...

The 6 speed manual in the 335i is the ZF GS6 53BZ/DZ. It is the same manual gearbox as found in the E60 M5. I'm pretty sure it won't be the same as the manual gearbox in a 328i but you never know. Best check realoem.com

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
