Coupe to Sedan?
I currently have a 2011 328i x-drive coupe. Fully loaded with 55,400 miles. Looked at a 2012 335i sedan today. Loved how it drove, its similarly loaded as my 328 without satellite radio. My only complaint is the damn pillar when I get in and out since my seat is all the way back due to my height. Can anyone give me their experiences from going to a coupe to a sedan? Thanks!

But aside from moving to a different platform. Going from a mustang to BMW sedan and basing this opinion purely on the number of doors the cars have, I like the sedan better. Yes, the coupe looks slightly better. But a sedan outfitted with the right package (mSport) more than makes up for the looks plus you get the practicality of a 4 door Last edited by MuffinMan910; 01-25-2016 at 07:47 PM.. |

Blessing and a curse. Little tougher to get out, but a lot easier to get in in tight spaces.

I guess its a matter of personal taste, but the F30 is a more subdued, sober car compared to the E90, which is a sportier, more aggressive looking car.

I'm not really asking about looks, I'm asking if anyone has had a coupe, traded it in for a sedan. Their thoughts of the 2, not whether or not one looks better than the other.

Of course the sedan will be bigger inside, more headroom, legroom and possibly shoulder room. You will be dealing with shorter doors which makes entry/exit easier. One aspect I dislike about 2 door cars in general is the long and heavy doors.
It will be a more comfortable and practical car. At the end of the day it is a personal preference and there is no right or wrong about it. |

I had an e92 and traded it for an e90. Honestly, I loved both...but I prefer the sedan

I also prefer the E90 to E92 for comfort and practicality. This preference also extends to the late E90 M3 which I still find to this day a very intriguing car. After all M3 with 4 doors are outnumbered by M3 coupes. |

When you ask such an open ended preference based question, you will get a series of random responses. Go sit in both and get the one that suits you!!! Everyone is a different size so even if someone was in the EXACT same boat as you, their opinion will be completely different. You might as well ask people what colour is the best

One thing I don't like about the sedan is the B pillar is much further forward, so when you do a shoulder check when changing lanes, the pillar is right there blocking the view. In the coupe, no problem.

You should never have the need to look over your shoulder when changing lanes. Take a look at this vid from the BMW M performance school: |

Yep, the B pillar does suck. The sedan shorter door is a huge difference getting in and out. It's also nice opening the rear door to toss in my briefcase and then hopping in up front without it. I prefer the sedan overall

The small mirrors on the E90 remind me of my motorcycles. As mentioned, you need to adjust them a little different. I find that I aim them outwards quite a bit to pick up that blind spot. No real reason to see the side of the car or behind you with a side mirror.

This is actually why I want to install the LCI mirrors on my 06, to get the bigger mirrors. |

Even with the mirrors adjusted properly, I still always do a shoulder check. |
