BMS black chrome tip maintenance
How do you stop them from corroding, or clean off the corrosion? It's not overly visible, but it'd be nice to not have it.
Thanks! |

No idea, try a high temp clearcoat over them?

I don't understand by what you mean when you say "corrosion". Could you post some pictures if possible? If the finish is coming off, your seeing bare metal, then I'd send them back. Same if there are holes forming.
If your talking about the soot buildup, that's going to happen no matter what. I've got the burnt tips. They seem to have held up fine for 5k miles. I had black tips before, OEM from BMW. I usually hit them with car wash solution when ever they looked dirty. |

I'm no metallurgist, but that does resemble corrosion. I'll be watching to see how this plays out.

that looks to be debris on the surface. have you tried cleaning them and then clay? i know with chrome tips i've used 0000 steel wool and it removes all that. just be easy with it.

It's nothing on the surface, and if it was, I'd expect the whole car to be covered in the same, and it isn't. It really looks and feels, and acts like rust pitting, but I don't want to try anything too abrasive as it'll almost certainly take the black chrome off!

Clean them weekly, with soap and water, and apply a little wax to them Ive had no issues with mine and still look new.

Thought I'd update this, BMS have been brilliant and are sending me a pair of the matte ceramic ones to replace the chrome ones and said I can chuck the chrome ones.
