2017 Camaro ZL1 (640HP/ 10 Speed Auto)
Hats off to GM again.. But now the question what happens to the Vette ? Something tells me there might not be a Z/28 with this gen...
I think the Mustang and Hellcat just got served a piece of pie.. Supercharged 6.2-liter V8 cranking out an estimated 640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. 10-speed automatic transmission ( Co-Developed with Ford... 640 ft lbs ...10 Speeds.. that's crazy, I wonder what the max is on that tranny) 200 Pounds less than the less Gen ZL1 (EST 3850) Six-piston Brembos with two-piece rotors 20Inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires Standard with 11 heat exchangers for proper powertrain cooling Food for thought 2015 ZL1 was $57,800 ( Shipping and Gas Guzzler).. I doubt this will move much price wise.. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-and-info-news http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-...t-look-review/ http://www.autoblog.com/2016/03/16/2...-look-3487537/ Last edited by DocWeatherington; 03-16-2016 at 01:18 AM.. |

Bowtie has done it again. Good on them, if only they would have updated the '16 Camaro body styling a little more than subtleties.....

10 speeds, whoop dee freakin doo! How many speeds do you need? Do we really need a transmission that's constantly shifting to find the optimum gear? Back in my day we had 3 speeds and we loved it, now get off my lawn!

You'll be shifting all day, Jesus.
They still failed on the spoiler here. Loving the red seat belts, though. I wanted to do orange belts in my Z06, but looks like that would run me $500+. Pass! |

It's an automatic, so only if you want to.
I do think the benefits of an 10 speed over an 8 are close to non existent. When transmissions had 3 speeds and went to 4 there was a big benefit but with each extra gear added now it is close to pointless.

DDD31 I think the only benefits with 10 gears is in the SUV/ Truck market. Great for towing but in a car, I think 8 is probably more than enough. The real question will be when EPA numbers get released and if this has good/decent MPGs due to a 10speed and how often its actually in 10th. If 100mph is in 3 gear whats the point. |

They ran out of power to make, so they added 5 more gears? Christ.

10 speed? a bit more and we're going to hit what some Semi-Trucks run.
10 is four too many IMO. Either way, sweet car for the money but it's something I wouldn't consider buying. |

Not a fan of the car in general BUT... I am a fan of the engine and transmission! Well done GM, well done! Those gears will in FACT improve fuel economy and make this beast very docile around town in the city where it will see most of it's use.

I'm talking about on the street. 10 speeds, that car will be gear hunting all the time. Who buys an auto to run around in manual mode? You can't shift better than the damn computer.

You can't make that assumption without knowing the gear ratios, or how many gears are overdrives, or how many are power gears, etc.

Edit: Avoid that car like the plague if you ever get a rental.
