Ever get your interior really wet?
Buddy left his car at his usual garage over the weekend, idiot valet rolled the windows down and it got rained on. Dealer suggested shop vac and then a fan to try and dry it out. Any other ideas? All I could come up with was a couple of those damp rid buckets from Home Depot to suck the moisture out of the air. Cloth interior, carpets and door cards all wet.

Depends on how soaked it got. If it was really bad then you might have to pull back the carpeting and dry any electronics equipment under it really well. Otherwise it can corrode over time.

If the moisture stays for long it will get mildew...don't know what the weather is like there, but if it is warm park in the sun and crack the sunroof and a window, only a little, to encourage evaporation. This has worked really well on all my cars, but is only effective if you can get the internal temp inside the car pretty warm. Might be hard during winter.

Bummer..I've had a quart of water spill on my carpet, tried to sop up with a towel and after leaving in the sun in 80 degree weather for a day was all dried up. That car was all black interior and would turn into a little oven on a warm day.

Rent/buy a good dehumidifier and set it up in trunk with seats folded down and run it 24/7???
There is a ton of foam insulation under the carpet so you aren't going to manual extract it unless you pull all the carpets. I left the huge sunroof on my mini cooper s open and flooded it. Ran AC and heat for a day with car just sitting after pulling floor pan drains and sucking as much water from the bottom of the car as I could. No residual damage that I am aware of.

Not on my BMW but I once left the top open on my S2000 over night and woke up to rain. That was fun. Ripped the seats out and used a shopvac and towels until it was completely dry. Luckily with that car its super easy to get to everything.

Couldn't you go get a dehumidifier or something similar from home depot and just set it up in the back seat while you sleep?

If the carpet releases water when you press down on it? If it does I woukd have the carpet pulled out.
Pulling seats can scratch interior and on some Honda once a seat is disconnected the SRS light won't turn off unless computer is used. But pulling carpet and maybe even door trim is worth it. |

When we get flood cars into the body shop we pull seats and shop vac everything, then place a dehumidifier in cabin. We usually place seats in spray booth during bake cycle(165°f). Seats take 2x40 minute cycles. Dehumidifier runs 24 hrs with car closed up and trunk open. It is important to get on it as soon as possible because of mold and mildew. Obviously remove all personal item and trash before you start.
