M235i VRSF Downpipe fits on M2 - plus turbo internal pics
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com VRSF Downpipes (catless) build quality kind of sucks and came a bit bent around the edges, but no leaks. Last edited by paradoxical3; 04-27-2016 at 01:05 AM.. |

Yes my car. Friends helped me out (one is a damn good BMW tech) and used their lift so it wasn't bad. Took a couple hours but that is with us taking beer breaks, joking around, etc. I have installed an intercooler on my old car alone and on ramps and this was definitely easier.

There is slightly increased drone in sport and sport+ mode, in comfort mode there is no drone. I am actually pretty surprised what a difference this made, the turbo spool is insane. You can hear the turbo both spool up and spool down from inside the cabin. I had a catless downpipe on my previous N55 car and the M2 sounds completely different and way better. |

Bracket is not necessary. The VRSF downpipe for N55 doesn't even have a spot for the bracket to attach on it and the N54 guys never used a bracket either. The stock downpipe is much thicker in diameter due to the cat and has VERY narrow clearance between the transmission and the catalyst, about .5 inch. The bracket prevents movement and the downpipe from contacting the transmission. The VRSF downpipe has multiple inch clearance and it is not necessary to use it.

paradoxical3 Good job it sounds great. Now you want to know something weird we got the same down pipe and had to put a decent dent on it among other things for it to fit.

As mentioned in my first post, the VRSF build quality was not the greatest. One of the welds almost had a hole in it, and the lip around the lower flange was not truly circular. It almost caused a leak, but we were able to seal it up with excess tightness on the v-band clamp. I would not be surprised if you got a defective one as well that just was poor fitment in general. |

Are you running with your CEL on or did you get a emulator for it?

It took like 150 miles for it to show up, but it is there now. It's actually far less annoying in the M2 than it was in my X1. I have ordered an intercooler and JB4 so that will take care of it, but honestly I don't even notice it right now.

So how come we can just throw a DP on these cars without a tune and no issues other than CEL? With subies you better tune that DP or BANG.
Sounds great by the way. |
